BRG Kings Island Golf Resort: Three Courses on Dong Mo Lake

Opened in phases across nearly three decades, BRG Kings Island Golf Resort has grown into the largest golf property in northern Vietnam. The Lakeside Course came first in 1993, designed by American architect Robert McFarland; Mountainview followed in 2004 from Australia’s Pacific Coast Design; and the Kings Course, laid out by Nicklaus Design, opened in 2018 as the resort’s most modern addition. Together the three 18-hole, par-72 courses add up to 54 holes on the shores of Dong Mo reservoir, about 40km west of central Hanoi.

Each course has a distinct identity. Lakeside plays across a peninsula and a string of small islands on the reservoir, with water in play on 14 of its 18 holes and the Ba Vi mountain range as a backdrop. Mountainview climbs into wooded, hilly terrain typical of the area northwest of Hanoi. Kings Course is the longest and most contemporary of the three, built with wide fairways and layered bunkering aimed at a broader range of handicaps.

With 54 holes on one property, Kings Island is often booked as a multi-day golf base rather than a single round — many golfers play two of the three courses back to back during a Hanoi stopover.

Facilities are shared across the three courses: a driving range, putting green, pro shop, and rental sets for golfers arriving without clubs. Caddies and golf carts are mandatory for every round, and the resort offers coaching for guests who want a lesson worked into their trip.
