Sapa and Vietnam’s northwest mountains have one golf course so far: Sapa Grand Golf Course in Bat Xat, Lao Cai province, about 33 km from Sa Pa town and roughly 4.5–5 hours from Hanoi by expressway. It opened in July 2023 and is best played as part of a Northern Vietnam trip that includes a night or two in Sa Pa. Golfers driving up from Hanoi sometimes pair it with a round at Yen Bai Star Golf & Resort, a stop on the road north.
