What Is Sapa Grand Golf Course Like to Play?
It is a hillside course, and the terrain does most of the talking. Holes are cut into forested slopes, the bunkers are big and heavily sculpted, and the cart paths snake up and down between tees and greens. At 6,656 yards and par 71 it is not long on paper, but uphill approaches and sidehill lies make it play longer than the card suggests.
The setting is what people remember. The Red River runs along the northeast side of the property with rice paddies to the northwest, and several greens look straight out across the valley toward the Hoang Lien Son range. Early in the day, cloud can sit low in the valley before it burns off.
One thing to get right before you book: Sapa Grand is not in Sa Pa town. It sits in Bat Xat, around 33 km away and far below the hill station, so the weather at the course is usually milder than in Sa Pa itself.

The overnight train to Lao Cai station is the other option, with a short road transfer to Bat Xat from there.
