Overview

Hotel Grand Saigon stands at 8 Dong Khoi Street in District 1, on the corner nearest the Saigon River. The original 1930 building with its domed corner tower is one of the better colonial facades left in the city; a newer tower behind it brings the count to 250 rooms. There is an outdoor pool in the courtyard, a spa and gym, the Saigon Palace restaurant, Bar des Amis and a rooftop lounge on the 20th floor.

This is a city base, not a golf resort. Tan Son Nhat Golf Course is 20 to 30 minutes away, Song Be and Harmonie around 45 to 50 minutes, and Long Thanh or Vinpearl Golf Leman about an hour. In return the group gets Dong Khoi on the doorstep, with the Opera House six minutes away on foot and Ben Thanh Market about twelve. One tip from the reviews: ask for the original wing. Those rooms are larger, with parquet floors and French windows, while the tower rooms are plainer.
