How Many Golf Courses Are There in Da Nang? All 8 Courses

Da Nang and its stretch of coast have eight 18-hole golf courses, not seven — the count people usually quote quietly merges two of them. All eight sit within about an hour of the city, and this page runs through every one in order, north to south, with the designer, the year it opened and what the round actually plays like.

They are numbered north to south. Distances are from central Da Nang, and the drive times are what our drivers actually take rather than what a map app estimates.

1. Ba Na Hills Golf Course

Luke Donald’s only design in Vietnam, opened in 2016 and still the longest card in Da Nang at 7,858 yards off the tips. It sits at the foot of the Ba Na mountain, not up on it, so the heat is the same as the city — between May and August an afternoon tee time here is a mistake rather than an inconvenience. Play early or play under lights. The fairways tilt in ways you do not see from the tee, which is the part first-timers always mention afterwards. 2. Legend Da Nang — Norman Course

The older of the two eighteens at Legend Da Nang, open since 2010, and the one that behaves most like a British links: firm ground, exposed dunes, and a sea breeze that turns a wedge into an eight iron by mid-morning. Par 72, 7,160 yards, floodlit. It is 20 minutes from the airport, which makes it the standard choice for a first-morning or last-afternoon round. 3. Legend Da Nang — Nicklaus Course

Same clubhouse, completely different golf. Nicklaus opened this one in 2018 and routed it inland through water and planted parkland, so it is softer underfoot and far more about carry than run. Par 72, 7,200 yards, also lit for night play. Groups who book both often expect a variation on the same theme and are surprised; playing them back to back on consecutive days is the better way round. 4. Montgomerie Links Vietnam

Colin Montgomerie’s 2009 course, and the fourth and last of the eight inside Da Nang. Par 72, 7,090 yards, cut through pine and old dune land so the corridors feel private even when the club is busy. It is also the friendliest of the four for anyone playing off a high handicap: wide enough off the tee to stay enjoyable, with greens that reward a sensible miss instead of punishing one. 5. Hoiana Shores Golf Course

About 45 minutes south, past Hoi An. Robert Trent Jones Jr opened it in 2019 and it is the only genuine seaside links of the eight — the South China Sea is in play or in view on roughly half the holes, and the wind decides the scorecard. 6. Vinpearl Golf Nam Hoi An

The second Hoi An course, opened in 2018 on flat, open links land by IMG Worldwide. Par 72, 7,200 yards, and floodlit, which makes it the easiest of the pair to build a late round around. It is a gentler test than Hoiana next door and pairs well with it — morning at Vinpearl, late afternoon or evening at the other, both from the same hotel. 7. Laguna Golf Lang Co

North now, and an hour’s drive through the Hai Van tunnel. Nick Faldo laid this out in 2013 across lagoon, working rice paddy and the lower slopes of the hills, and it is the most scenic round of the eight by a clear margin. Par 71, 6,958 yards — the shortest card here, and it still asks the most questions about where to aim. Worth the drive, but it eats a whole day, so it belongs on trips of five nights or more. 8. Golden Sands Golf Course

The newest of the eight, opened in September 2024 outside Hue by Nicklaus Design, and at 7,445 yards the second longest. It is raw coastal links land, still young — the turf is bedding in and the surrounds have not matured yet, which some players like and others do not. The drive is roughly two hours each way. Our honest read is that it is a course for a return visit or a Hue extension rather than a first Da Nang trip, because that travel time costs you a round somewhere else. Why do some lists say seven courses instead of eight?

Because they are counting addresses, not golf courses. Legend Da Nang is one gate, one clubhouse and one booking desk, but behind it are two entirely separate eighteens — Greg Norman’s links from 2010 and Jack Nicklaus’s parkland from 2018. Count the places you drive to and you get seven. Count the courses you actually play and you get eight.

For anyone planning a trip, eight is the number that matters. GoGolfVietnam books both Legend Da Nang eighteens as separate rounds on separate days, and our team has yet to see a group finish both and still call them one course. They share a car park and nothing else.

How many of the eight can you fit into one trip?

Four or five is the honest answer for most groups. Eight rounds means eight early starts, and two of the eight sit an hour or more away in opposite directions, so the full set needs nine or ten days before it stops feeling like a forced march. Which two courses should you play if time is short?

Hoiana Shores and either Legend Da Nang eighteen. That pairing gives you the two things Da Nang does that nowhere else in Vietnam does as well: a real seaside links, and a floodlit round twenty minutes from the airport. Our team recommends this combination more often than any other, and it is the one people come back and repeat.

The course we would push down the list for a short trip is Golden Sands — not because of the golf, which is good, but because four hours in a car costs you a round. Save it. Ba Na Hills is the other one to think about carefully: it is the biggest course here, but book it early in the day or under lights, never at two in the afternoon in June.
