A 7:00am tee time at Legend Da Nang means a 6:15 pickup from a My Khe hotel and, realistically, lunch back at the beach around 1:00pm. Move that same tee time to Laguna Golf Lăng Cô and the pickup jumps to 5:30, and you are not back before 3:00pm. Same round, two very different days.
That gap is the whole subject of this guide. The 18 holes themselves are the predictable part; it is everything wrapped around them that decides whether a Da Nang golf day is a half-day or the entire day.
Quick Answer
Most 18-hole rounds in Da Nang take roughly four to four and a half hours of playing time. Once hotel transfers, check-in, warm-up and post-round time are added, plan on six to eight hours for the complete golf day. Courses farther from central Da Nang — Hoiana Shores, Vinpearl Nam Hoi An and especially Laguna Lăng Cô — sit at the top of that range. Treat these as planning allowances, not fixed times.
How long is a golf day in Da Nang, start to finish?
Six to eight hours door to door, and the round is only a little over half of it. GoGolfVietnam plans every Da Nang golf day as four blocks: the transfer out, check-in and warm-up, the 18 holes, and the return — and the two transfer blocks are what vary most from course to course.
| Part of the day | Planning allowance | What decides it |
|---|---|---|
| Hotel pickup and transfer out | 20–80 minutes | Which course, where your hotel is, morning traffic |
| Check-in, changing, warm-up | 30–45 minutes | Club rental, group size, whether you want range balls |
| 18-hole round | 4–4.5 hours | Course traffic, group size, weather, pace of the groups ahead |
| Shower, meal or a drink after | 30–60 minutes (optional) | Whether you eat at the clubhouse or back in town |
| Return transfer | 20–80 minutes | Same course distance, afternoon traffic around the Han River bridges |
The one number in that table with a published source is the round itself. Laguna Golf Lăng Cô’s golf policy sets a scheduled pace of play of 4 hours 20 minutes for 18 holes, and states that on a busy day it can stretch to 4 hours 40 minutes. Other Da Nang-area courses do not publish a pace-of-play figure, so 4 to 4.5 hours is a planning estimate drawn from our own tee sheets, not an official time for every course.
What makes a round faster or slower in Da Nang?
Five things, and most of them are outside your control once you are on the first tee — which is why we build them into the plan beforehand rather than hoping for a quick day.
Group size and experience
A fourball of regular golfers moves through Da Nang’s courses close to the 4-hour mark. Add a beginner, or two players hunting balls in the dunes at Hoiana, and 4.5 hours is normal. Fivesomes are not standard here — Laguna’s policy caps groups at four — so a five-person party is usually split, and the second group inherits whatever pace the first one sets. Our guide to what happens when a fivesome shows up covers the pairing rules course by course.
Weekends and peak season
Between October and March the courses are full, and on weekends the tee sheet runs at its tightest. That is when the 4h20 becomes 4h40 at Laguna and when the groups ahead of you set your pace, not your own game. In our experience the fastest rounds of the year are weekday mornings in May and June — the heat keeps the sheet thin — but that trade-off is not for everyone.
Rain and wind
Heavy rain or lightning stops play; the course suspends and resumes once it clears, so a round is not cancelled but it does get longer. Wind on the coastal layouts — Hoiana, Montgomerie, Laguna — slows everyone down because club selection takes longer and balls end up in places they would not on a calm day.
Course layout and travel between holes
Long green-to-tee drives at the resort courses add minutes that a compact city course like Legend Da Nang does not. Every Da Nang course is played with a cart and caddie included, so the walk itself is not the variable; the routing is.
Starting time and daylight
An early tee time has empty holes ahead of it. A mid-morning one has a full course in front. And an afternoon start races the light: from October to February the sun is down before 6:00pm, so a 1:00pm tee time on a slow day is finishing in dusk.
How early should you arrive before your tee time?
Thirty minutes before the tee time is the floor; forty-five is what we book for groups renting clubs. Arriving on the minute means starting flustered — there is bag check-in, the caddie briefing, shoes to change, a cart to load and, if you rent, sets to size up.
Laguna’s policy gives reserved tee times priority on the tee and states that players without a reservation wait for the starter. Most courses run similar starter systems, though the exact check-in window is set by each club. We confirm it for you at booking rather than quoting one rule for all six courses.
Sample Da Nang golf day schedules
Three real shapes of a golf day, using Legend Da Nang (20 minutes from central Da Nang) as the example course. Substitute a farther course and every line after “pickup” shifts later by the extra transfer time.
Early-morning tee time (7:00am)
- 6:15 — Pickup from a My Khe or Han River hotel
- 6:35 — Arrive, check in, warm up on the range
- 7:00 — Tee off
- 11:15–11:30 — Finish 18 holes
- 12:00 — Lunch at the clubhouse or back in town
- 1:00pm onward — Free afternoon: beach, Hoi An, a second nine for the keen
This is the schedule we recommend for most guests. It leaves the whole afternoon open and beats the heat from April to September.
Mid-morning tee time (9:30am)
- 8:45 — Pickup
- 9:05 — Check in and warm up
- 9:30 — Tee off, with a full course ahead
- 2:00–2:15pm — Finish
- 3:00pm — Back at the hotel
Treat this as a full-day activity. Nothing else meaningful fits before dinner, and the last four holes are played in the hottest part of the day between April and September.
Afternoon tee time (1:00pm)
- 12:15pm — Pickup
- 1:00pm — Tee off
- 5:15–5:45pm — Finish, depending on pace
- 6:30pm — Back at the hotel
Only book this when you know the season. From October to February it is a race against the light; from October to December it also runs straight into the afternoon rain window. Do not schedule a fixed dinner reservation within an hour of the expected finish.
If your dates are flexible and you would rather have someone else hold the tee sheet, we run the two-round short break we run for long weekends exactly on the early-morning pattern above — one round on the middle day, one on departure morning.
How much time should you allow for each Da Nang-area course?
Transfer times below are from central Da Nang (the My Khe beach strip and the Han River side), as published on our transfers page and updated September 2026. Round-planning ranges are our estimates unless the course states one. Only Laguna does.
| Course | Transfer from central Da Nang | Round allowance | Door-to-door | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Legend Da Nang Golf Resort | ~20 min | 4–4.5 h | 6–6.5 h | Closest to the airport; the arrival-day and departure-day course |
| Montgomerie Links | ~25 min | 4–4.5 h | 6–6.5 h | Also ~25 min from Hoi An Old Town |
| Ba Na Hills Golf Club | ~45 min | 4–4.5 h | 7–7.5 h | Inland at the foot of the mountain — same heat as the city; floodlit for evening play |
| Hoiana Shores Golf Club | 45–60 min | 4–4.5 h | 7–8 h | South of Hoi An; only ~20 min if you stay in Hoi An instead |
| Vinpearl Golf Nam Hoi An | ~45 min | 4–4.5 h | 7–7.5 h | ~25 min from Hoi An Old Town |
| Laguna Golf Lăng Cô | ~80 min | 4h20 scheduled, up to 4h40 busy (club policy) | 8–9 h | In Huế province, over the Hải Vân Pass; first tee 6:00am |
Two things the table hides. First, the distances swing hard depending on where you sleep: the same Hoiana round is a 20-minute hop from a Hoi An hotel and an hour from Da Nang. Second, the return leg at 5pm is slower than the outbound at 6am — the Han River bridges and the Hoi An road both back up. GoGolfVietnam builds the return transfer with a 15-minute cushion over the outbound for that reason. The full breakdown of how long each transfer really takes from the beach hotels is on our transfers page.
Can you play golf on the day you arrive in Da Nang?
Sometimes — and “sometimes” has conditions. Land before 10:00am, clear immigration and collect your clubs by 11:00, and Legend Da Nang (20 minutes from the airport) is realistic for a 1:00pm tee time. Land at 1:00pm and the maths does not work anywhere except, in summer, a floodlit evening round at Ba Na Hills.
Our team has found the arrival-day round goes wrong for one of three reasons: the flight is late, the bags (or the clubs) are late, or the tee time was booked at a distant course because it was the one the guest most wanted to play. We do not confirm an arrival-day tee time until the flight is landed and the transfer is moving — and we always put the far courses on day two or later.
Can you play golf before an evening flight from Da Nang?
Yes, and it is the better bet of the two. Book the earliest tee time available — 6:00 to 7:00am — at Legend Da Nang or Montgomerie Links, finish before noon, shower at the clubhouse, and you are at the airport with hours to spare for a 4:00pm departure.
The rule we apply: your round must finish at least four hours before an international departure, three before a domestic one. That covers the return transfer, the airport drive, check-in and the queue at security with a golf bag. A departure-day tee time at Laguna or Hoiana breaks that rule for almost every flight before mid-afternoon, so we simply do not offer it.
Who should add extra time?
First-time golfers, senior groups, anyone renting clubs, groups of eight or more, and anyone playing Laguna or Hoiana from a Da Nang hotel. If two of those apply, plan on the top of every range in this guide. If you would rather not do the arithmetic, tell us the hotel, the flight times and the courses you want, and we will build an itinerary timed to your flights rather than the other way round.
GoGolfVietnam is a local golf tour operator based in Da Nang. We book the tee times and drive the transfers ourselves, which is why the planning ranges above come from our own schedules rather than a map app.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. How long does 18 holes of golf take in Da Nang?›
Plan on four to four and a half hours. Laguna Golf Lăng Cô publishes a scheduled pace of 4 hours 20 minutes, rising to 4 hours 40 minutes on busy days; the other Da Nang-area courses do not publish a figure, so the range is a planning estimate based on typical fourball pace.
2. How early should I arrive before my Da Nang tee time?›
Thirty minutes at minimum, forty-five if anyone in the group is renting clubs. Check-in windows are set by each course, so confirm the exact requirement when you book rather than assuming one rule applies everywhere.
3. How long is a complete golf day including hotel transfers?›
Six to eight hours door to door. Legend Da Nang and Montgomerie Links sit at the six-hour end because they are 20–25 minutes from central Da Nang; Hoiana Shores and Vinpearl Nam Hoi An run seven to eight hours, and Laguna Lăng Cô, 80 minutes away, can take nine.
4. Can I play golf on the day I arrive in Da Nang?›
Only with a morning landing and a nearby course. A flight arriving before 10:00am can usually make a 1:00pm tee time at Legend Da Nang, 20 minutes from the airport. Later arrivals or distant courses do not leave enough buffer, and we do not confirm arrival-day rounds until the flight has landed.
5. Can I play golf before an evening flight from Da Nang?›
Yes, with an early tee time at a course close to the airport. Finish the round at least four hours before an international departure or three before a domestic one; that leaves time to shower, transfer and clear security with a golf bag.
6. Do weekend or rainy-day rounds take longer?›
Usually. Weekend and peak-season tee sheets are full, so the group ahead sets your pace. Heavy rain or lightning suspends play until it clears rather than cancelling the round, which adds the length of the delay to your day.
