What Is Eschuri Vung Bau Golf Resort Like to Play?
The round is built around a change of scenery. The front nine works through old-growth forest, with a stream crossing three holes and about 25 metres of elevation change, so the opening holes feel enclosed and shaded. After the turn the course moves into coastal dunes, where IMG left large areas of exposed sand as waste bunkers, and the 14th and 15th run directly along the beach of Vung Bau Bay. The 14th, with the sea on one side and the sunset behind the green late in the day, is the hole most golfers remember.
The course is long from the back, at 7,508 yards, but tees run forward to about 5,000 yards, and the greens average around 750 square metres, which gives generous targets. Tahoma 31 bermuda on the fairways and TifEagle greens are both newer, salt-tolerant grasses suited to the island climate. Floodlighting on the course allows play to continue after dark.
The clubhouse takes its style from the imperial architecture of Hue. Inside are the CoCo Restaurant with a 40-seat VIP room, locker rooms with sauna, steam room and jacuzzi, and a short-game academy with coaching. Stay-and-play packages are offered with partner hotels on the island, including JW Marriott, New World and La Festa.
How Do You Get to Eschuri Vung Bau Golf Resort?
