Golf in Phu Quoc used to mean one course. Older guides still describe Phu Quoc as a one-course island; since Eschuri opened in 2024–2025 there are two. That changes the trip: you can now play two very different 18-hole layouts on the same island, a forest course beside a resort beach and a newer course that finishes along the sea. This guide covers both courses, where to stay, when to go and how many days you need.
Quick Answer
Golf in Phu Quoc in 2026 means two 18-hole courses, both in the north of the island: Vinpearl Golf at Bai Dai, an IMG forest layout from 2015, and Eschuri Vung Bau, a 7,508-yard course with holes along the sea. Three to four days covers both. December to March is the peak of the dry season, and staying in the north keeps the drives short.
How many golf courses are there in Phu Quoc?
Two are open in 2026, and both are on the northern half of the island:
- Vinpearl Golf Phu Quoc at Bai Dai, Ganh Dau, in the northwest. Designed by IMG Worldwide and opened in 2015, it was built with 27 holes: an 18-hole par-72 course plus a third nine.
- Eschuri Vung Bau Golf Resort at Vung Bau, a little further down the west coast. Sun Group's course, designed by IMG Golf Design (Steven McFarlane), soft-opened in October 2024 and ran its full 18 holes in 2025.
What about a third course? Local planning reports mention room for more courses on the island, but only these two are operating and we found no confirmed opening date for a third (checked October 2026). For a 2026–2027 trip, plan on two courses.
Vinpearl Golf vs Eschuri Vung Bau at a glance

| Vinpearl Golf Phu Quoc | Eschuri Vung Bau | |
|---|---|---|
| Designer | IMG Worldwide | IMG Golf Design (Steven McFarlane) |
| Opened | 2015 | Soft-opened October 2024; full 18 holes in 2025 |
| Layout | 18 holes, par 72, about 7,040 yards, plus a third nine | 18 holes, par 72, 7,508 yards (forward tees about 5,000) |
| Grass | Seashore paspalum | Tahoma 31 fairways, TifEagle greens |
| Signature | Par-3 3rd to an island green, about 145 yards | Holes 14 and 15 along the sea; the 14th is the signature |
| Setting | Forest fairways a short drive from Bai Dai beach | Forest and sandy waste areas opening onto the coast |
| Night golf | Day rounds | Yes; lit tee times confirmed when booking |
| From the airport | About 45–50 minutes | About 40 minutes |
Course facts are from each club and our course pages (checked October 2026); drive times are estimates for normal traffic. Full details, maps and photos are on our Vinpearl Golf Phu Quoc and Eschuri Vung Bau Golf Resort course pages. Yardage for Vinpearl varies between sources, so we round it.
Which Phu Quoc golf course suits you?

The honest answer is that most golfers who fly to Phu Quoc should play both, because they feel nothing alike. If you only have room for one round, these are the trade-offs:
| If you want… | Choose | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The longer, newer test | Eschuri Vung Bau | 7,508 yards from the back, with wind off the sea on the coastal holes |
| Sea views from the course | Eschuri Vung Bau | Holes 14 and 15 play right along the shore |
| A round minutes from a beach resort | Vinpearl Golf | It sits in the Bai Dai resort area, a short drive from the beach |
| Shade and a forest feel | Vinpearl Golf | Tall trees line many fairways |
| A round after dark | Eschuri Vung Bau | Night golf is offered; book lit tee times ahead |
Vinpearl Golf is the easier fit for a family beach holiday: it is part of the same northern resort area as the theme park and safari, so a morning round does not take the whole day. Eschuri is the one for golfers who rate a course by its challenge and its finish. Neither is a pushover; both are par 72 from the back tees.
Where to stay for golf: north or south?

Phu Quoc is long and narrow, and the golf is all in the north, while many famous beaches and the cable car area are in the south. Where you sleep decides how much of each day you spend in a car.
| Base | Best for | Drive to golf |
|---|---|---|
| North: Bai Dai / Ganh Dau | Golf-first trips; families who want the theme park and safari | About 5 minutes to Vinpearl Golf from the Bai Dai resorts; Eschuri roughly half an hour |
| Middle: Duong Dong / Long Beach | Restaurants, night market, mixed trips | Around 35–45 minutes to either course |
| South: An Thoi / Bai Khem | Beach-first trips; Sunset Town and the cable car | Roughly 50–75 minutes to either course |
Drive times except the Bai Dai figure are our estimates. For a trip built around golf, stay in the north. If a partner wants the southern beaches, split the stay: two nights north for the golf, then move south.
For two rounds without the transfers, our three-day stay-and-play beside Vinpearl Golf keeps hotel and course a few minutes apart.
Best time for golf in Phu Quoc
The dry season runs from roughly November to April, and December to March is its heart: the most settled weather and, from December to February, the most comfortable temperatures (about 23–27°C according to Vietnam Airlines' travel guide). The rainy season runs from about late May to early October. Rain often comes in short, heavy bursts rather than all day, but the sea is rougher and beach days suffer more than golf.
| Months | Season | For golfers |
|---|---|---|
| December–March | Peak dry season | Best conditions; book tee times and hotels early |
| November, April | Shoulder months | Mostly dry; April is the hottest month, so tee off early |
| May–October | Rainy season | Playable between showers; early tee times and flexible days help |
Seasons from Vinpearl's Phu Quoc weather guide (January 2026) and Vietnam Airlines (both checked October 2026). A month-by-month guide for golfers is on the way.
The January–March peak also includes Tet. Lunar New Year 2027 falls on 6 February, and it is one of the busiest weeks of the year for travel in Vietnam, so book Tet and peak-season tee times early. Our guide to what stays open for golf over Tet 2027 explains what to expect across Vietnam that week.
How many days do you need?
| Trip length | What fits | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| 2 nights | One or two rounds at one course | A short add-on to a beach holiday |
| 3 nights | Both courses with a free day between | The classic Phu Quoc golf trip |
| 4–5 nights | Both courses, a replay of your favourite and beach days | Couples and families mixing golf and holiday |
Three nights is the sweet spot because flights in and out eat into the first and last days. Our four-day Phu Quoc golf package that plays Eschuri and Vinpearl Golf follows that shape: arrive, Eschuri on day two, Vinpearl Golf on day three and a free morning before the flight.
Getting there is simple. Phu Quoc International Airport (PQC) has direct flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and international routes from several Asian cities. Foreign visitors who fly straight into Phu Quoc from abroad can usually stay on the island for up to 30 days without a visa (Vietnam's immigration law as amended in 2019; reported as still in force by An Giang provincial media in April 2026). Rules change, so check before you fly, and note the exemption covers Phu Quoc only.
Golf plus beach: what non-golfers do
The north of the island, where the golf is, is also where most of the big family attractions are. A non-golfing partner or children can spend the round at:
- VinWonders Phu Quoc, a large theme and water park near Bai Dai.
- Vinpearl Safari, an open-range wildlife park a short drive from the same resorts.
- Bai Dai beach itself, one of the island's long western beaches, with sunsets over the sea.
- The south: Sunset Town at An Thoi and the cable car out to the southern islands, best as a day trip from a northern base.
A good rhythm is golf in the morning and a shared afternoon, with one full family day in the middle of the trip.
Phu Quoc or Da Nang for a golf beach holiday?
Both are beach destinations with good golf, and they suit different trips and seasons.
| Phu Quoc | Da Nang | |
|---|---|---|
| Courses | Two, both in the north of the island | Six around Da Nang, Hoi An and Lang Co |
| Best months | December–March, the dry season | February–April; October–March is the cooler peak with some rain |
| Trip style | Island resort holiday with two rounds | Course-hopping with old-town and city sightseeing |
| Ideal length | 3–4 nights | 4–6 nights |
In short, Phu Quoc wins on a relaxed island holiday with two contrasting rounds and dry weather in the northern-hemisphere winter. Da Nang wins on choice, with six courses and more to do off the course. If you are weighing it up, see how a golf and beach holiday works on the central coast.
Planning your Phu Quoc golf trip
Golf in Phu Quoc is now a proper two-course trip rather than a single round on a beach holiday. Go between December and March, stay in the north, give yourself three nights and play both courses: the forest at Vinpearl Golf and the coastal finish at Eschuri. To compare dates and hotels, browse our Phu Quoc golf trips that combine both courses with a beach stay. GoGolfVietnam, a local golf tour operator based in Da Nang, arranges the tee times, transfers and hotels as one plan.
