About 20°C. That is Da Lat’s average temperature across the year, and it is the reason the best time to play golf in Da Lat is less of a puzzle than anywhere else in Vietnam. The real choice is between the dry, crisp months around the turn of the year and the greener, showery months in the middle of it.
Quick Answer
The best time to play golf in Da Lat is the dry season, roughly December to March, with November and April as good shoulder months. Daytime temperatures stay around 15–24°C all year, so golf works in every month. The rainy season runs from about May to October, but showers are usually short, so book a morning tee time.
Our complete guide to golf in Da Lat covers the three courses and where to stay; this page is about timing.
Da Lat golf seasons at a glance
Da Lat has two seasons, dry and wet, and neither gets hot. The city sits about 1,500 metres up in the Central Highlands, which keeps it cool (Vinpearl, January 2024; North Vietnam guide, updated May 2025).
One warning before the table: the sources do not agree on where the dry season starts and ends. Vinpearl’s own guide gives December to March in one paragraph and November to April in another; dalat.app says December to April. We plan around the overlap, roughly December to March, and treat November and April as good shoulder months.
| Season | Months | Weather | For golf |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dry season | About December–March | Sunny, low rainfall, about 15–23°C by day; cool early mornings | Best window; any tee time works |
| Shoulder months | November and April | Mostly dry, first or last showers of the wet season | Very good; keep one flexible morning |
| Rainy season | About May–October | Frequent but usually short showers, about 18–24°C | Playable with a morning round |

Temperatures below are monthly averages published by the North Vietnam guide; the golf notes are how our team reads each month when we plan tee times.

Cool-weather golf: Da Lat vs Ho Chi Minh City vs Nha Trang
Da Lat is the place to play when the rest of southern Vietnam is too hot. In March and April, highs in Ho Chi Minh City reach about 35–38°C; Da Lat sits around 21–23°C in the same weeks.
| Months | Da Lat | Ho Chi Minh City | Nha Trang |
|---|---|---|---|
| December–February | Dry, cool: highs about 17–19°C | Dry, highs about 26–32°C, lowest humidity | December still wet; January–February dry |
| March–May | Dry to showery, highs about 21–24°C | 35–38°C in March–April; rains begin in May | Dry season, calm sea |
| June–August | Rainy, highs about 23–24°C | Rainy, short afternoon storms | Still in the dry season |
| September–November | Rain easing, highs about 20–23°C | Rainy; longest rain in September–October | Rainy season, wettest in October–November |
Ho Chi Minh City and Nha Trang figures come from our own season guides for those cities, which cite VietnamTourism.com (August 2026) and InterContinental Nha Trang (July 2026). If you are flying in through Saigon in spring, it helps to know how hot Saigon’s courses get from March to May before deciding where to spend the extra round.
GoGolfVietnam, a local golf tour operator based in Da Nang, usually suggests Da Lat as the “second stop” on southern trips between March and May: a round in Saigon at 6:30 to beat 35°C, then two or three days in the highlands where an 8:30 tee time feels like spring.
How the weather plays at each Da Lat course
All three courses follow the same two seasons, but where they sit changes how a wet or misty morning feels. Caddies and carts are compulsory at all three and included in the green fee.
- Dalat Palace Golf Club is in town, about 10 minutes from the central hotels by car, with bentgrass greens on 6,596 yards. It is the easiest course to reschedule if a shower comes through.
- SAM Tuyen Lam Golf Club sits by Tuyen Lam Lake, about 25–30 minutes from the centre, and has hotels on site. In the rainy season, staying there means you can wait out a shower without a drive.
- The Dalat at 1200 Country Club, par 73 and more than 7,500 yards, is about 15 minutes from Lien Khuong Airport and 45 minutes from the centre. It suits the morning you land or the morning you leave.
The five-day package that plays all three Da Lat courses is built around that logic, with each course on a different day so one wet morning never costs you the trip.

Can you play golf in Da Lat in the rainy season?
Yes. The fairways are at their greenest, and because the dry season is the tourist peak, the wet months are quieter. Rain in Da Lat usually comes as short, heavy bursts that clear quickly rather than all-day downpours (Vinpearl; North Vietnam guide), and dalat.app notes that mornings are usually possible even in the peak months.
- Tee off early. We book the first tee at about 7:00–8:00 from May to October.
- Keep one spare morning. On a three-round trip we leave a free morning so a washed-out round can move.
- Expect thunder in the afternoon. Courses suspend play for lightning and restart once it passes, so a storm usually delays a round rather than ending it.
Splitting a trip with the coast? Nha Trang runs on a different calendar, with its wet season late in the year, so it pairs well with Da Lat in mid-year; see why Nha Trang’s wet months fall later in the year.
What to wear for golf in Da Lat
Pack for a spring round, not for tropical Vietnam. Da Lat’s mornings are cool all year and can dip to around 10°C in December and January, so a light pullover or windproof layer for the front nine is worth the suitcase space. Add a waterproof jacket from May to October.
Do not skip the sunscreen. At about 1,500 metres, the sun on a clear dry-season day is stronger than the cool air suggests, and the UV index on clear dry-season days runs very high (dalat.app). A cap and sunscreen matter more here than the jacket.
Tet, cherry blossoms and the busy weeks
The dry season is also Da Lat’s peak tourist season, so the best golf weather and the fullest hotels arrive together (North Vietnam guide; dalat.app). Three periods need booking well ahead:
- Christmas to New Year, the start of the dry-season peak.
- Tet 2027, which falls on Saturday 6 February 2027; the weeks either side are among the busiest of the year.
- Cherry blossom season, usually late January to early February, though the trees have bloomed as early as late December in some years (Phap Luat newspaper).
For these dates we recommend booking tee times and rooms two to three months ahead. You can browse the highland golf trips we put together in Da Lat and send us your dates; we will tell you which weeks are already tight.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is the best month to play golf in Da Lat?›
March is the sweet spot for most golfers: the dry season is still on, rain is light and daytime highs reach about 21°C. December to February are just as dry but cooler, with January the coldest month and mornings near 10°C.
2. When is the rainy season in Da Lat?›
Roughly May to October, with sources stretching it from April to November. Showers are usually short, often in the afternoon or evening, so a morning tee time normally stays dry. July and August are the wettest months.
3. Is Da Lat too cold for golf?›
No. Daytime highs sit around 18–24°C through the year and the average is about 20°C. Only early mornings in December and January feel cold, at around 10°C, so a light jacket for the first few holes is enough.
4. Is Da Lat or Ho Chi Minh City better for golf in April?›
Da Lat. April highs in Ho Chi Minh City reach about 35–38°C, while Da Lat stays around 23°C. Saigon golf in April means a 6:30 start and a midday finish; in Da Lat you can tee off at 8 or 9 in comfort.
5. Can you play golf in Da Lat in the rainy season?›

6. What should I wear for golf in Da Lat?›
Normal golf clothes plus a light jacket or pullover for early tee times, and a waterproof layer from May to October. Sunscreen matters even when it feels cool: at about 1,500 metres the sun is strong on clear days.
7. Is Tet a good time for golf in Da Lat?›
The weather is good, cool and mostly dry, but it is one of the busiest weeks of the year. Tet 2027 falls on 6 February, so book tee times and hotels for late January to mid-February well ahead.
