Can visitors play The Dalat at 1200?
The Dalat at 1200 is a private golf course that visitors can play only by invitation. In the club’s own words on its booking page, it is “not open for walk in rounds”: play is for members, member guests and owners of property in the estate, and until the resort is fully operational, non-members are welcome by invitation only.
In practice, the invitation is a booking request. You fill in the club’s form with your preferred tee time, say whether you need a pickup, and the club replies by email with a confirmation and payment details. There is no turning up at the gate with your clubs. If you travel with us, we send the request with your flight times and confirm everything, including whether caddie and cart are in the rate, before you leave home.
The club calls itself the first country club and private estate in the world to become an accredited Asian Tour destination. A few months after opening, in March 2016, it hosted a KLPGA tournament, according to the Asian Golf Industry Federation.
How long is The Dalat at 1200, really?
Very long from the tips, and very manageable from the right tee. Adding up the club’s hole-by-hole card gives four tee sets:
| Tee set (club card) | Total yards | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|
| Back | 7,560 | Low single-figure players who want the full test |
| Second | 7,099 | Strong amateurs, handicap under about 10 |
| Third | 6,687 | Most mid handicappers |
| Forward | 5,636 | Higher handicappers, seniors and many women golfers |
The front nine is par 37 with three par 5s, and the back nine par 36. The longest hole is the par-5 17th at 612 yards from the back, a blind tee shot on a dogleg right where the second shot must carry a hidden stream. The hardest hole on the card (stroke index 1) is the 4th, a 469-yard par 4 from an elevated tee with water around the green.
Is it the longest course in Vietnam? It is certainly one of the longest we book, but we have not found an official ranking that names it number one, so we do not make that claim. What matters more is this: pick your tee by your normal driving distance, not your ego. At 1,200 m, the club notes a “micro climate wind effect” on its elevated holes, so club selection is part of the challenge.
How it plays at 1,200 metres
Elevated tees and big views. Many holes start from raised tees looking over rice paddies, streams, lakes and pine forest. The par-3 3rd, which the club says was named the best par 3 in Vietnam in 2017, plays from a high tee to a green with bunkers in front and water on two sides; come up short and you are in the forest below.

Bentgrass that runs on. The greens and aprons are bentgrass, and the club warns that its greens are slightly sloped and the ball keeps rolling after it lands. Land approaches short of the flag unless you can spin the ball, and respect the edges: the 15th green falls away steeply on all sides.
Cart only. The elevation changes between holes are big enough that the club makes carts compulsory. That suits travel-day golf: you are not walking hills after a flight.
Cool, not cold. The club quotes temperatures of 16–26°C year round. The rainy season, roughly May to October, tends to bring afternoon showers, so an earlier tee time is the safer choice in those months (VinWonders, July 2025).
The airport round: play it on your arrival or departure day
This is where 1200 earns its place. Lien Khuong airport is 23 minutes away by car (13.8 km), while central Da Lat is 47 minutes away (34 km), according to Google Maps on 21 October 2026. Driving out from town and back for a round costs well over 1.5 hours in the car. Playing it on the way in or out costs almost nothing.
| Airport-day plan | What happens |
|---|---|
| Morning | Land at Lien Khuong; the driver loads the bags |
| About 23 minutes later | Arrive at 1200, change, warm up on the putting green |
| Late morning to midday | Tee off; the club’s form lists tee times up to 2pm |
| Afternoon | Lunch at the clubhouse, then about 47 minutes to the hotels in town |
On departure day, reverse it: check out early, play a morning round, eat at the clubhouse and drive 23 minutes to the airport. Your driver keeps the luggage in the car while you play; ask the club for bag storage if your flight is late. Our five-day Da Lat package that uses 1200 as the travel-day round plays 1200 on the final morning, on the way to the airport.
The clubhouse sits between the 9th and 18th holes and has changing rooms, showers, a sauna and a restaurant serving Vietnamese and international dishes, so you can freshen up before the next leg.
Who it suits, and the honest trade-offs
It suits:
- Low and mid handicappers who want the toughest test in Da Lat.
- Golfers arriving or leaving on a morning or afternoon flight.
- Anyone who likes big scenery: lake, rice paddies and pine valleys from raised tees.
The trade-offs:
- You cannot just turn up. Access needs a booking request, so plan ahead.
- From a hotel in town it is a 47-minute drive each way.
- From the back two tee sets it is a long, tiring day for higher handicappers.
- Beyond the clubhouse, the resort is still being completed; the estate plans up to 350 villas in phases.

1200, Tuyen Lam or Dalat Palace?
For a first round, or if you only have a morning, Dalat Palace is the one: it is in town, shorter and full of history, and why Dalat Palace is the better pick for a first round in town explains the details. SAM Tuyen Lam, 40 minutes from 1200 by the lake south of town, is the middle choice in length and the easiest to stay beside. With four nights, play all three and use 1200 on a flight day; our guide to three courses in three days, with drive times between them shows how.
Our verdict
The Dalat at 1200 is worth playing if you are a reasonably solid golfer and can fit it into a travel day. It is long, scenic and different from anything else in Da Lat, and its location next to the airport removes the one real drawback, the distance from town. Choose the right tee, take a cart, land your approaches short and book ahead. Our Da Lat golf trips that include an invitation round at 1200 handle the booking request and the transfers for you.
