Where to Stay in Phu Quoc for a Golf Trip (2026–2027): North Coast Near the Courses, Duong Dong, Long Beach or the South?

For a golf trip, stay on Phu Quoc’s north coast. Both courses, Vinpearl Golf and Eschuri Vung Bau, sit there, so a resort around Bai Dai puts you 5–10 minutes from the first tee. If you also want the southern beaches, split the stay: golf nights in the north, beach nights in the south.

Quick Answer

  • Golf-only trip: Bai Dai / Ganh Dau in the north, about 5–10 minutes from both courses.
  • Golf with family: the same north coast, beside VinWonders and the Safari.
  • Want the south too: two nights north for golf, then two nights south for Sunset Town.
  • Avoid basing golf in the south: roughly 50–75 minutes to each course.

Why does it matter where you stay in Phu Quoc for golf?

Because both golf courses are on the north coast, and the island’s best-known beaches are not. Phu Quoc is long and narrow, so the wrong base can add well over an hour of driving to every golf day.

Vinpearl Golf sits inside the Bai Dai resort strip, near VinWonders and Grand World. Eschuri Vung Bau is a short drive along the same coast. The airport and Duong Dong town are in the middle of the west coast, and the south, around An Thoi and Bai Khem, is the far end of the island from both courses.

GoGolfVietnam, a local golf tour operator based in Da Nang, plans most Phu Quoc golf trips around that one fact: when a round starts at 7am, a five-minute transfer and a 75-minute one are very different mornings. We compare the two courses in more detail in our overview of Phu Quoc golf.

How long does it take to reach the courses from each area?

From the north coast, minutes; from Duong Dong, around 40; from the south, about an hour or more. Here are the planning times we use.

Where you stay Vinpearl Golf Eschuri Vung Bau Airport (PQC)
North: Bai Dai / Ganh Dau (Vinpearl, Grand World) About 5 min About 10 min About 45–50 min
Middle: Duong Dong town About 45 min About 35–40 min Short drive
West coast: Long Beach (Bai Truong) About 35–45 min About 35–45 min Short drive
South: An Thoi / Bai Khem About 75 min About 50–60 min About 26 min

Planning estimates in normal traffic. North-coast times from Google Maps (checked October 2026: Eschuri Vung Bau to VinWonders 8 minutes). Duong Dong, Long Beach and south figures are our planning estimates.

Which Phu Quoc area suits which golfer?

Each area trades driving time against something else: nightlife, beaches or quiet. Here is how they compare for golfers.

Bai Dai and the Vinpearl–Grand World coast (north)

Best for: golf-first trips and families. You are minutes from both courses, with VinWonders, the Vinpearl Safari and Grand World on the doorstep for anyone not playing.

Trade-off: it is a resort zone rather than a town, so evenings revolve around the resorts and Grand World. Most resorts on this stretch are within about 5 minutes of Vinpearl Golf.

Vinpearl Golf sits inside the Bai Dai resort strip on the north coast, minutes from the hotels.

Duong Dong (middle of the west coast)

Best for: short trips where food and the night market matter as much as the golf. It is the island’s main town and close to the airport.

Trade-off: around 35–45 minutes to either course, every golf day. Fine for two rounds; tiring for four.

Long Beach / Bai Truong (west coast, south of town)

Best for: sunset-facing beach hotels and a middle-ground location. Restaurants are close, and the airport is a short transfer away.

Trade-off: golf transfers are similar to Duong Dong. We would not pick it for a golf-heavy week.

An Thoi and Bai Khem (south)

Best for: beach-first holidays. Bai Khem’s sand, Sunset Town and the Hon Thom cable car are all down here.

Trade-off: roughly 50–75 minutes to the courses. If the south is where your partner wants to be, treat Bai Khem as the beach half of a split stay, not the base for golf mornings.

What are the best ways to plan a Phu Quoc golf stay?

Most trips fit one of three shapes. Pick the one that matches who is travelling.

Plan Where to stay Who it suits
Golf only All nights on the north coast Groups playing both courses, 2–4 rounds
Golf + family North coast near VinWonders Golfers with children or non-playing partners
Split stay 2 nights north for golf + 2 nights south Couples who want golf and the southern beaches

Golf only. Stay north, play Vinpearl Golf and Eschuri on consecutive mornings and keep the afternoons free. Our Vinpearl stay-and-play with the course on the doorstep is built exactly this way.

Golf + family. Same base, different afternoons. While you play, the rest of the group can be at the theme park or the Safari, both minutes away; our day plan for partners and kids who skip the round lays out a full week.

Split stay. Book the golf nights first, then move south for the beach. On a five-day trip we normally do two nights north and two nights south, so nobody spends a holiday morning in the car.

How early do you need to leave for a morning tee time?

From the north coast, 20–30 minutes before your tee time is enough. From Duong Dong or Long Beach, allow about an hour; from the south, closer to an hour and a half.

Early starts matter most from March and April, when the heat builds through the late morning. If you are choosing travel dates as well as a hotel, our guide to the drier, cooler months for a Phu Quoc round shows when December to March is at its best.

How far ahead should you book for peak season and Tet 2027?

Book as soon as your dates are fixed. December to March is Phu Quoc’s dry season and its busiest golf period, and Tet 2027 falls on 6 February, right in the middle of it.

The north-coast resorts near the courses are the first to fill over Tet, because they suit families as well as golfers. Our team usually secures the hotel and tee times together, so the golf mornings line up with the nights you are staying north; see tee times and north-coast rooms booked as one package.

Flying in from Taiwan or Hong Kong?

Both have direct flights to Phu Quoc, and international visitors flying straight to the island can usually stay up to 30 days without a visa. For route-specific details, see our Phu Quoc golf trip from Taiwan and from Hong Kong guides.

Prices for green fees and transfers are in our Phu Quoc golf cost guide; this page sticks to where to sleep.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Which area of Phu Quoc is closest to the golf courses?›

The north coast around Bai Dai and Ganh Dau. Resorts around Bai Dai are about 5 minutes from Vinpearl Golf, and Eschuri Vung Bau is around 10 minutes further along the same stretch.

2. Should I stay north or south in Phu Quoc for golf?›

Stay north if golf is the main reason for the trip. The south has Sunset Town, the Hon Thom cable car and quieter beaches, but it is roughly 50–75 minutes from either course, so we usually suggest splitting the stay rather than basing golf there.

3. Is Duong Dong a good base for golf?›

It works for a short, mixed trip. Duong Dong is around 35–45 minutes from both courses and has the most restaurants and the night market, but you will drive every golf morning.

4. How far is the airport from the Phu Quoc golf courses?›

About 40 minutes to Eschuri Vung Bau and about 45–50 minutes to Vinpearl Golf from Phu Quoc International Airport, in normal traffic.

5. Can I play golf if I stay in the south of Phu Quoc?›

Yes, but plan on about an hour each way. From Bai Khem in the south, Eschuri is around 50–60 minutes and Vinpearl Golf roughly 75 minutes by car.

6. How early should I book a Phu Quoc golf hotel for Tet 2027?›

As early as you can. Tet falls on 6 February 2027, in the middle of Phu Quoc’s dry season, and the north-coast resorts near the courses are the ones families book first.
