By the GoGolfVietnam team in Da Nang. We plan Ho Chi Minh City golf weekends for Singapore-based golfers.
Can you do a Ho Chi Minh City golf trip from Singapore over a weekend? Yes. The nonstop flight takes about two hours, Singaporeans need no visa for up to 30 days, and five good courses sit within two hours of District 1. Fly out on Friday evening, play Saturday and Sunday mornings, and you are home on Sunday night.
Quick answer
- Flights: about 2 hours nonstop on Singapore Airlines, Scoot, VietJet and Vietnam Airlines; 11–12 departures a day.
- Entry: visa-free for Singaporeans for 30 days; Vietnam is one hour behind.
- Golf bag: free on most Vietnam Airlines fares (up to 23 kg); on Scoot and VietJet, pre-book the weight.
- Courses: Tan Son Nhat is about 30 minutes from District 1; Long Thanh about an hour.
- Best time: December to April. Two rounds fit a normal weekend; three fit a long weekend.
Flights from Singapore to Ho Chi Minh City
Singapore–Ho Chi Minh City is one of the busiest routes out of Changi, which matters for golfers: you choose the flight that suits your tee time, not the other way round. These are the nonstop schedules for the week of 2–8 November 2026, checked on 21 October 2026.
| Airline | Daily nonstops SIN→SGN | First / last from Singapore | Last back on Sunday | Golf bag |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Singapore Airlines | 4 | 09:45 / 21:50 | 19:55 (SQ185) | Counts towards your checked allowance; protective bag or hard case; max 32 kg |
| Scoot | 3 | 06:50 / 15:40 | 17:55 (TR597) | Counts as pre-purchased baggage; add 20–40 kg online |
| VietJet | 2 | 16:15–19:30 (by day) | 08:50 (VJ811) | Buy a checked baggage tier; online is cheaper |
| Vietnam Airlines | 2–3 | 13:15 / 20:45 | 16:20 (VN657) | One golf set up to 23 kg free on most fares |
Schedules: FlightsFrom route data (SIN–SGN and SGN–SIN, week of 2–8 November 2026), checked 21 October 2026. VietJet runs its 19:30 departure on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays and Vietnam Airlines adds an 18:25 flight from Thursday to Sunday. Golf bag rules: Singapore Airlines non-standard baggage page (checked 21 October 2026); Scoot, VietJet and Vietnam Airlines from airline pages we checked in July 2026. Timetables change, so confirm when you book.
Which flight should golfers pick? For a Friday departure after work, the 20:45 Vietnam Airlines flight is the one we suggest most: it lands at about 21:50 local time and your golf bag is usually included. For a cheaper fare with a morning start, the 06:50 Scoot lands around 08:00, early enough for an afternoon round. Coming home on Sunday, the 19:55 Singapore Airlines departure gives you a full morning round and lunch first.
Visa, time zone and the airport to District 1
Singapore passport holders can enter Vietnam without a visa and stay up to 30 days, under the visa exemption Vietnam gives to fellow ASEAN members. There is no e-visa to apply for; just check that your passport has at least six months left.
Vietnam runs one hour behind Singapore, so flights out appear to take an hour and flights back three. Tan Son Nhat airport is inside the city: Google Maps measured 25 minutes and 7.7 km from the terminal to Ben Thanh Market in District 1 on a weekday evening (21 October 2026). Allow 40 minutes or more at rush hour. Tan Son Nhat Golf Course is 22 minutes from the terminal, on the other side of the airport.
Courses within reach of District 1
For a weekend, choose courses by drive time first and design second. We measured these on Google Maps from Ben Thanh Market at about 9.45pm on a Wednesday (21 October 2026), so expect daytime drives to take longer.
| Course | From Ben Thanh Market | Type | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tan Son Nhat Golf Course | 32 min, 12.6 km (22 min from the airport) | 36 holes, flat city course, lakes and big bunkers | Arrival or departure day; evening golf |
| Vietnam Golf & Country Club | 43 min, 23 km | 36 holes, tree-lined West and sandier East | A classic morning round |
| Long Thanh Golf Club | 1 hr 4 min, 37 km | 36 holes on hill and lake courses | The round most guests remember |
| Vinpearl Golf Léman | 1 hr 8 min, 33 km | Parkland at Cu Chi with a published rate card | A quieter weekday |
| The Bluffs Grand Ho Tram | 1 hr 57 min, 105 km | Dune links by the sea | A fourth day with a night on the coast |
Tan Son Nhat is the weekend workhorse: close to the airport, with evening tee times under lights on selected nines, which the club confirms when you book. That makes a Saturday-evening round possible after a lazy morning. Long Thanh is the longest transfer of the three, but it is the course most of our guests rate highest. Vietnam Golf & Country Club, the country’s first 36-hole club, is the classic choice for a Sunday morning before the flight home.

The Bluffs at Ho Tram is the bucket-list round, nearly two hours away by road. It needs its own day and a night on the coast, so save it for a four-day trip.
The long-weekend plan: fly Friday night, back Sunday night
These plans use real departure times from the schedule above, not ideal ones. Morning tee times between 6:00 and 7:00 also keep you ahead of the heat.
| Day | 3 days, 2 nights (normal weekend) | 4 days, 3 nights (Monday holiday + Friday off) |
|---|---|---|
| Friday | Leave work, take the 20:45 Vietnam Airlines or 21:50 Singapore Airlines flight; land about 22:00–23:00; 25 minutes to District 1 | 06:50 Scoot, land about 08:00; afternoon round at Tan Son Nhat |
| Saturday | Early tee time at Long Thanh; afternoon free; evening in District 1 | Long Thanh Golf Club |
| Sunday | Morning round at Vietnam Golf & Country Club; 17:55 Scoot or 19:55 Singapore Airlines home | Vinpearl Golf Léman or Vietnam Golf & Country Club |
| Monday (public holiday) | — | Breakfast, Ben Thanh Market, then any departure from 12:10 to 19:55 |
The four-day version works best on Singapore’s Monday public holidays in 2027: Chinese New Year (8 February), Hari Raya Haji (17 May) and National Day (9 August). Our four-day Ho Chi Minh City trip with Long Thanh, Léman and Tan Son Nhat follows the same shape, with the last round played on the way to the airport.
When to go from Singapore
Ho Chi Minh City has two seasons. The dry season runs from about December to April and the wet season from about May to November, when storms usually arrive in the afternoon and pass quickly. Singapore’s 2027 public holidays, announced by the Ministry of Manpower in June 2026, give seven long weekends:
| Singapore long weekend 2027 | Days off | Ho Chi Minh City weather | Our take |
|---|---|---|---|
| New Year | Fri 1 – Sun 3 Jan | Dry, cooler | Easy start to the year; book December for tee times |
| Chinese New Year | Sat 6 – Mon 8 Feb | Dry, best weather | It is Tet in Vietnam too: courses are busy, so book very early |
| Good Friday | Fri 26 – Sun 28 Mar | Dry, hot | Tee off by 6:30am |
| Labour Day | Sat 1 – Mon 3 May | Rains begin | Vietnam’s own 30 April–1 May holiday fills courses |
| Hari Raya Haji | Sat 15 – Mon 17 May | Rainy season | Morning rounds; storms are usually after 3pm |
| National Day | Sat 7 – Mon 9 Aug | Rainy season | Good value if you play early |
| Christmas | Sat 25 – Mon 27 Dec | Dry season begins | Popular; book tee times in November |
For month-by-month rainfall and the best tee times by season, see how Ho Chi Minh City’s dry and rainy months affect your tee time. If you can only pick one, the New Year and Good Friday weekends give dry weather without the Tet crowds.

What a Ho Chi Minh City golf weekend costs in Singapore dollars
On the course, the clearest published price is Vinpearl Golf Léman: VND 2,550,000–3,850,000 for 18 holes on its 2026 rate card, about SGD 125–189, caddie and shared cart included. The Bluffs costs about SGD 290–330. Add a caddie tip of VND 300,000–500,000 (about SGD 15–25) per round, paid in cash.
Conversions use 1 USD = SGD 1.278 (20 October 2026) and VND 26,080 to the dollar (Vietcombank selling rate, 17 October 2026). Flight prices change daily, so we do not quote them; check the airline sites for your dates. For every course and what a whole trip adds up to, see green fees, caddie tips and trip budgets for Ho Chi Minh City. Our Ho Chi Minh City golf weekends for Singapore groups include three- and four-day options; the four-day trip with three rounds starts from USD 649 (about SGD 830) per person.
Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang or Phu Quoc from Singapore?
Choose Ho Chi Minh City for a city break with golf: the most flights, the shortest airport transfer and nightlife in District 1. Da Nang is about the same flight time but feels like a beach holiday, with more resort courses near the hotels; our Da Nang golf plan for Singapore golfers covers it. Phu Quoc is an island with two courses, better for a week than a weekend. A simple pattern is Ho Chi Minh City for a first weekend, then the central coast on the next trip.
For Singaporean Chinese golfers
Ho Chi Minh City’s Chinatown, Cho Lon in District 5, is a short drive from District 1 and still has Cantonese, Teochew and Hokkien assembly halls, temples and food streets. A Traditional Chinese version of this guide, written for Chinese-speaking golfers in Singapore, is available from the language switcher above.

5. Can I bring my golf bag on Scoot or Singapore Airlines?›
