Rental golf club sets with irons, wedges and putter ready at the bag drop

Last updated: 24 October 2026 · By the GoGolfVietnam team

Yes, you can rent golf clubs at the courses around Ho Chi Minh City. Published 2026 rates run from VND 950,000 (about USD 37) for a set at Vinpearl Golf Léman to VND 1,178,000 (about USD 45) at Tan Son Nhat, with shoes extra. For one or two rounds, renting is usually simpler than flying with a bag.

Quick Answer

  • Tan Son Nhat: VND 1,178,000 per set, VND 98,000 per single club, shoes VND 373,000.
  • Vinpearl Golf Léman: VND 950,000 per set, shoes VND 250,000.
  • Other clubs (Vietnam Golf & Country Club, Long Thanh, Song Be, Twin Doves, The Bluffs): rental available, price confirmed at booking.
  • Left-handed and ladies’ sets: request them with your tee time.
  • Rule of thumb: rent for 1–2 rounds; bring your own for 3+ rounds if your airline carries golf bags free.

Tan Son Nhat also publishes what happens if a rental club gets damaged: VND 300,000 for an iron with a loose grip, VND 687,000 for a broken iron and VND 2,062,000 for a broken wood. GoGolfVietnam, a local golf tour operator based in Da Nang, passes those rules on before the round so nobody is surprised at checkout.

What do you actually get in a rental set?

A full bag: driver, fairway wood or hybrid, irons, wedges and a putter in a carry bag, handed to your caddie at the bag drop. None of the Ho Chi Minh City clubs publish the brands or the exact make-up of their sets, so treat brand names as luck rather than a promise.

Ask whether balls and tees are included; if not, the pro shop sells them. Shoes come in standard sizes, so if you wear a very large or very small size, bring your own.

Can you rent left-handed, ladies’ or junior clubs?

Sometimes, but only with notice. No Ho Chi Minh City rate card lists left-handed, ladies’ or junior sets separately, which in practice means the clubs keep a small number of each. In our experience, asking on the day for a left-handed set is the most common way a rental goes wrong.

When we book a round, we pass on four details with the tee time: right- or left-handed, men’s or ladies’ shafts, your height and your usual handicap. That gives the club time to set a matching bag aside, especially for weekend mornings when the good sets go first.

Should you rent or bring your own clubs to Ho Chi Minh City?

Rent for one or two rounds; bring your own for three or more if your airline carries a golf bag free. Vietnam Airlines, for example, carries one golf set up to 23 kg free on international and domestic flights, while low-cost carriers charge it as checked baggage.

Your trip Airline Our recommendation
1 round on a stopover Any Rent: no bag to carry between the airport, hotel and course
2 rounds Low-cost carrier Rent: two rental fees usually cost less than a golf-bag fee each way
2 rounds Full-service, golf bag free Either; bring your own if you care about your driver and putter
3+ rounds Full-service, golf bag free Bring your own
3+ rounds Low-cost carrier Compare the bag fee with 3 or more rental fees before you book

Check golf bag allowances airline by airline before deciding; the rules differ by fare class as well as by airline.

How do you book a rental set?

Book it together with the tee time, not at the counter. Most visitors book through their hotel concierge, a tour operator or the club’s own booking line; whichever you use, ask for the rental set in the same message as the tee time.

Our guide on securing a Ho Chi Minh City tee time as a visitor explains how far ahead each club fills up. On a package, the rental is arranged for every round: a three-day Saigon golf break with clubs sorted before you land is the easiest way to travel with nothing but your shoes and glove.

What should you check before you tee off with rental clubs?

Two minutes at the bag drop saves a frustrating round. Our guests usually check these six things with the caddie:

  1. Count the clubs: 14 is the maximum; know what is in the bag.
  2. Grips: no loose or shiny grips, especially on wedges.
  3. Shaft flex: regular, stiff or ladies’; ask if it is not printed.
  4. Driver head: no cracks on the face or crown.
  5. Putter: roll two practice putts; swap it if it feels wrong.
  6. Damage on record: point out existing marks before you start, given the published damage fees.

Is it worth buying clubs in Ho Chi Minh City instead?

Only if you were planning to buy anyway. Club pro shops in Ho Chi Minh City sell full ranges, but they are rarely cheaper than at home, and you still need to fly the set home.

The same rent-or-bring logic applies elsewhere in Vietnam: Da Nang and Hanoi clubs also rent full sets, with prices that differ course by course. Planning several cities? Our Ho Chi Minh City golf trips with rental sets on request combine with Da Nang or Hanoi in one booking.
