Van Tri Golf Club: A Private Estate Course Minutes from Noi Bai
Van Tri Golf Club sits in Kim No, Dong Anh District, about 18km from central Hanoi and just 4km off the Hanoi-Noi Bai Expressway. Opened in 2007 and designed by Peter Rousseau of P+Z Designs, it was built and is still run as a private golf estate, one of the first of its kind in Vietnam.
Membership runs to roughly 400 people and the compound has controlled access, so this is not a course you turn up to and pay a green fee at the gate. That said, Van Tri does take outside golfers — tee times for visitors are arranged in advance through partner travel agencies rather than booked directly, which is a different process from a public course but not a closed door. Golfers travelling with gogolfvietnam can get on the course; it just takes a bit more lead time than an open-access resort.
The course plays to a par 72, up to 7,200 yards from the back tees, laid out through pine-lined fairways with subtle moguls and sharp-edged bunkers placed to punish a lazy line rather than every miss. It reads closer to a links or parkland design than the valley-style challenge at Chi Linh Star or the resort-scale layouts at Sky Lake and Phoenix — Van Tri is built for golfers who want a tighter, more tactical round, and its private-estate setting keeps the pace of play steady with fewer outside groups on the course.
The clubhouse has an international dining room, a VIP room, locker rooms and a pro shop, with caddie service, buggy and club rental, coaching, a driving range, a short-game area and a putting green all on site. Metal spikes are not allowed.
