Women’s Golf Trip to Da Nang: Courses, Caddies, Safety & How to Plan It

Group of women golfers celebrating together on the green at a links-style golf course

Last updated: September 2026

The question we get most often from women organising a group trip here is not about the golf. It is some version of: what will actually be different for us? The honest answer is less than most people expect on the course, and more than most people expect off it.

Everything below is either taken from a club’s own published rate card or described qualitatively, with the gaps named rather than filled in.

Quick Answer

Da Nang works for a women’s golf group year-round, and no course here publishes a separate rate for women: Legend Da Nang lists six guest categories (Member, Member Guest, BRG Members, Domestic visitor, Inbound Visitor and Junior under 16) and gender is not one of them. Rounds are played inside gated resort courses with a caddie walking the full eighteen, which is standard in Vietnam rather than an add-on. The costs that actually move are the 590,000 VND (about US$22) exclusive-cart surcharge when nobody shares a buggy and the 200,000 VND caddie reservation fee, both published by the club and both unrelated to who is playing.

Do women pay different green fees in Da Nang?

No. There is no women’s rate at any Da Nang course that publishes its pricing, and the clearest evidence is the Legend Da Nang rate card, effective 1 December 2025.

That card splits guests into six categories: Member, Member Guest, BRG Members, Domestic visitor, Inbound Visitor and Junior under 16. A visiting woman books as an Inbound Visitor, exactly as a visiting man does, and pays the same 18-hole rate on the same day of the week. There is no ladies’ day, no discounted tee sheet and no surcharge either.

What does change your bill is mechanical rather than personal. The cart is compulsory for all guests, and exclusive use of one costs 590,000 VND (about US$22) for 18 holes, so a group of five where one player rides alone pays that once. The caddie reservation fee is 200,000 VND (about US$7.50) at visitor rates. Both figures come from the same rate card, checked September 2026.

Hoiana Shores, Vinpearl Golf Nam Hoi An and Laguna Golf Lang Co publish no women-specific policy of any kind. That is not a refusal; it simply means there is nothing in writing to quote, so confirm at booking.

Which Da Nang courses suit a women’s group best?

The useful split is wind and walking, not difficulty ratings. A group whose handicaps range from 12 to 34 breaks down on exposure and fatigue long before it breaks down on yardage.

Coastal courses carry the sea breeze from late morning onward. A player who carries the ball 140 yards loses a far larger share of that into wind than a player who carries it 240, so an exposed links-style layout flatters the longest hitter in the group and punishes everyone else. Inland, the ground moves more but the air is still.

Course Wind exposure Cart or walking Best for a mixed-ability group? Women-specific policy published
Legend Da Nang (Nicklaus & Norman) Coastal, exposed Cart compulsory for all guests Yes. Two eighteens share a clubhouse, so a split group can play different courses at the same time None. Six guest categories, none by gender
Ba Na Hills Golf Club Inland, sheltered at the foot of the mountain Rolling ground, more walking between shots Good for players who dislike wind; the heat is the same as the coast Not published
Montgomerie Links Vietnam Coastal, dunes and pines Mixed Balanced pace, on-site academy for anyone still learning Not published
Hoiana Shores Golf Club Seaside, most exposed of the group Cart Strong players enjoy it; newer players find the wind hard work Not published
Vinpearl Golf Nam Hoi An Coastal Cart Manageable for a mixed group Not published
Laguna Golf Lang Co Mountain and sea, an hour north Mixed Quietest tee sheet outside peak season Not published

Wind and terrain columns are our own operating description, not club data. The cart and guest-category entries for Legend Da Nang come from its published rate card, effective 01/12/2025, checked September 2026. Every other club publishes nothing about women golfers, which is why that column says so plainly instead of guessing.

Our team usually puts a mixed group at Legend Da Nang first. Two courses on one site means a four-ball that splits into a competitive pair and a social pair does not have to drive anywhere to do it.

What about the forward tees?

Nobody here will put you on the forward tees because you are a woman. Starters in Da Nang set tees by how far the group hits, and a visiting player can ask for any tee on the card.

The practical approach is the one most travelling groups already use: pick the tee that leaves you a mid-iron into par fours, then stay on it for the week so scores compare. In a group with a 35-yard spread in driving distance, playing different tees within the same four-ball is normal and nobody at the club will think twice about it.

On yardages we are deliberately not printing numbers. The scorecard databases that publish forward-tee distances for these courses block automated checking, and we are not going to quote a figure we cannot trace to a club’s own card. What we can say qualitatively: the forward tees on the Da Nang coastal courses shorten the hole meaningfully rather than token amounts, and on several holes they remove a forced carry over water or scrub that exists from the back tees. Ask the starter which holes change most; they answer that question every day.

One thing worth sorting before you fly is clothing, because collared tops and the no-denim rule are enforced at every course here and the heat makes the choice of fabric matter more than at home. The clothing rules worth checking before you pack covers what the clubs actually turn people away for.

What is the caddie experience like for women golfers?

A caddie walks the full eighteen with you, and in Vietnam that is standard rather than a luxury upgrade. It is the single biggest difference from golf in Australia, the UK or most of the US, and for a group it changes the pace of the day.

The job here is fuller than carrying. Caddies read greens, give yardages, rake bunkers, clean clubs, spot balls in the scrub and generally know the course far better than you will after one round. For a player who is new to the game or new to the layout, that turns a potentially demoralising round into a manageable one. In our experience caddies in Vietnam are mostly women, which some groups find makes the round more relaxed; we offer that as an observation from arranging these rounds rather than as a statistic, because we have no figure worth quoting.

Requests are usually accommodated if you make them at booking rather than on the tee. Groups sometimes ask for caddies with stronger English, or for the same caddies across several days; the club decides on the day, and we pass the request on rather than promise the outcome.

The fee structure trips people up more than the etiquette does. The caddie reservation fee at Legend Da Nang is 200,000 VND at visitor rates, and that is separate from what you hand over at the end. How tipping actually works here sets out the normal range so nobody in the group is guessing on the eighteenth green.

Is Da Nang safe for a women’s golf trip?

The honest answer is that the golf part of the trip is the most controlled part of it. Rounds happen inside gated resort courses, you are with a caddie from the first tee to the last green, and the transfer at each end is a private vehicle we book rather than a taxi you flag down.

The specifics that matter operationally:

  • The courses are enclosed resort properties, not public parkland with open access. You pass a gate to get in and the clubhouse handles bag storage and changing rooms.
  • You are never alone on the course. A caddie walks the whole round with each player, which also means someone knows where every member of the group is at any point.
  • Transfers are arranged end to end. We book the vehicle and driver for hotel to course and back, so nobody is arranging a ride at 5:45am or after a late finish.
  • Finish times are the thing to plan around. An afternoon eighteen in the Da Nang winter months can end close to dusk. We schedule so the round finishes with light to spare, which matters more for comfort than for anything else.
  • Hotels sit on a single strip. Most groups stay along Vo Nguyen Giap on the beachfront or in the An Thuong blocks just behind it, both walkable and well lit in the evening, with restaurants at street level.

Some things we cannot verify for you, and you should ask about directly rather than take our word for: whether a specific club has female locker-room attendants on the day you play, whether a specific hotel floor has key-card lift access, and whether a course will hold the same caddies for your group across several rounds. We ask these on request and pass back the club’s answer in writing. Anyone who tells you all of this is guaranteed is selling rather than informing.

What if someone in the group doesn’t play golf?

Two situations, and Da Nang handles both without stranding anyone at the hotel.

If they simply do not play, Legend Da Nang sells a Spectator Package (no play golf) as a listed product: 1,900,000 VND (about US$72) for 18 holes on the Nicklaus course on a weekday, 1,800,000 VND on the Norman course, rising to 2,400,000 and 2,300,000 VND at weekends and public holidays. Source: the club rate card, effective 01/12/2025, checked September 2026. That buys a place in the buggy and the round rather than a wait in the clubhouse.

If they are willing to start, the region is unusually well set up for it. The Montgomerie Links academy publishes its coaching rates: 620,000 VND (about US$24) for 30 minutes, 935,000 VND for an hour, 3,900,000 VND for five hours and 1,465,000 VND for an on-course nine-hole lesson excluding the golf fee, with resident coach Vo Trung Hai, a VGA member with 15 years in coaching. Figures as published by the club, September 2026. The Ba Na Hills range is the low-commitment option: 18 covered floodlit bays open 6:30am to 6:00pm, two teaching studios with a PGA Professional on site, and club rental so nobody needs to buy equipment to find out whether they like it.

Groups that want the non-golf days built in rather than improvised usually start from the version that builds sightseeing days around the rounds, which is the itinerary we adapt most often for parties of six to ten.

How do you actually put the trip together?

For four to ten players, three golf days across five or six nights is the pattern that holds up. More than that and the back half of the week thins out, particularly in a group with mixed handicaps.

A shape that works: arrive, range or a lesson in the afternoon. Day two, the first eighteen at Legend Da Nang while everyone is fresh. Day three off the course entirely, Hoi An old town is 20 to 30 minutes from the coastal clubs, so it fits either side of a morning nine. Day four, the second eighteen, inland at Ba Na Hills if the coastal wind has already worn the group down. Day five, the third round or a repeat of whichever course the group liked best, which is usually the answer with a group that is travelling together rather than competing.

On timing, October to March is the peak stretch in Central Vietnam because the weather is comfortable, not because it is quiet, so tee sheets fill and you should book earlier, not later. April to September is the dry season, hottest in May and June, when an early tee time matters more than the course you pick.

Lead time: six to eight weeks for a group of eight or more in peak season, two to three weeks off-peak. Ten players is three flights, which the starter has to plan around rather than slot in, so the request goes in with the booking rather than on the day.

GoGolfVietnam books the tee times, the vehicles and the hotel as one confirmation, and passes club answers back in writing where a club has made a commitment. What we will not do is promise something on a club’s behalf. If you want the rounds, transfers and rooms costed together for the whole group, what goes into a quote for a group like this is the starting point.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do any Da Nang courses charge women a different green fee?
›

No. The Legend Da Nang rate card, effective 1 December 2025, lists six guest categories (Member, Member Guest, BRG Members, Domestic visitor, Inbound Visitor and Junior under 16), and none of them is based on gender. The other Central Vietnam courses publish no women-specific pricing either.

2. Do women have to play the forward tees?
›

No. Tees are set by how far you hit the ball, not by gender, and you can ask for any tee on the card. Players within the same four-ball commonly use different tees, which is unremarkable here.

3. Will we have a caddie for the whole round?
›

Yes. A caddie walks the full eighteen with each player at Da Nang courses, reading greens and giving yardages. At Legend Da Nang the caddie reservation fee is 200,000 VND (about US$7.50) at visitor rates, separate from the tip at the end.

4. What does it cost if one of us does not play?
›

Legend Da Nang sells a Spectator Package with no golf: 1,900,000 VND for 18 holes on the Nicklaus course on a weekday and 2,400,000 VND at weekends, with the Norman course slightly lower. Source: club rate card, effective 01/12/2025, checked September 2026.

5. How far ahead should a group of eight book?
›

Six to eight weeks in the October to March peak, two to three weeks outside it. A group of eight or more spreads across multiple flights, so the starter needs the group size at booking rather than on the day.
