Yes, you can rent golf clubs in Hanoi, and for a short trip it is often the easier choice. A full rental set costs 590,000–1,250,000 VND (~$22–48) per round, depending on the course. Golf club rental in Hanoi works best when the set is reserved with your tee time, not on the morning you arrive.
Quick Answer
Hanoi’s golf courses rent full club sets, shoes and umbrellas. A full set costs from 590,000 VND (~$22) at Chi Linh Star to 1,250,000 VND (~$48) at BRG Kings Island for 18 holes; Long Bien charges 800,000 VND (~$30). Reserve the set when you book the tee time. For one or two rounds, renting is usually simpler; for three or more, bringing your own often wins if your airline carries a golf bag free.
Can you rent golf clubs in Hanoi?
Yes. Every course around Hanoi that we book rents full sets, and the bigger clubs also rent shoes and umbrellas. What varies is the price, the choice of sets, and whether a left-handed or ladies’ set is free on the day you play.
Two house rules are worth knowing before you plan to share. Long Bien’s price list states that every golfer must have their own bag, and Chi Linh Star’s says each player needs their own set. Two people splitting one rental set is not an option at either club, and we would not plan around it anywhere else.
For most visitors the decision comes down to trip length. A golfer flying in for Hanoi packages we can quote with or without rental clubs usually plays three or four rounds, which is exactly where the bring-or-rent maths gets interesting.
How much does it cost to rent golf clubs in Hanoi?
Between 590,000 VND (~$22) and 1,250,000 VND (~$48) for 18 holes, depending on the course. Chi Linh Star is the cheapest set we have priced, BRG Kings Island the dearest, and Sky Lake also offers a TaylorMade set at a higher rate.

Long Bien’s rates come from its published price list; the other four were confirmed by our team with each club by phone in October 2026. Long Bien’s list also shows a single club at 100,000 VND (~$4), handy if you have brought a half set. Its published season ended on 30 September, so we confirm the current figure when we book. Rental always sits on top of the green fee; for what a round includes before you add equipment, see the green fee side of a Hanoi golf budget.
What do you actually get in a rental set?
A full bag of clubs to play 18 holes: woods, irons, wedges and a putter. Brands, shaft flex and how recent the set is depend on the club and on what is left on the rack that morning.
We do not promise a brand, with one exception: Sky Lake offers a TaylorMade set at 1,500,000 VND (~$57) alongside its standard set at 900,000 VND (~$34). Pro shops in Hanoi stock the big names; Long Bien’s lists TaylorMade, Titleist, Callaway and others for sale. But what the shop sells and what sits in the rental rack are not the same thing. If a specific shaft flex or a lob wedge matters to you, tell us before you fly and we will ask the pro shop.
- Usually in the bag: a full set for 18 holes, carried by your caddie.
- Not included: balls, a glove and tees. Buy them at the pro shop or bring your own.
- Worth asking for: stiff or regular shafts, and whether a hybrid can replace a long iron.
Are there left-handed, ladies’ and junior rental sets?
Sometimes, but never assume it. No Hanoi club publishes whether it keeps left-handed, ladies’ or junior sets, or how many.
Our team asks the pro shop for these sets before a trip is confirmed, not after. If the club cannot hold one, bringing your own bag is the safer plan. For a group, give us everyone’s hand and flex at the same time as the tee-time request.
Shoes, gloves and balls: what to pack even if you rent
Pack your own golf shoes, glove and a sleeve of balls. They weigh little, fit in a normal suitcase, and save you from rental sizes that do not fit.
- Shoes: Long Bien allows soft spikes only, so leave metal spikes at home. Rental shoes cost 400,000 VND (~$15) there, and your own pair is the only way to be sure of the fit.
- Glove: bring two in the humid months, May to August, when one is soaked by the back nine.
- Balls: buy a dozen at the pro shop or bring them; at lake courses such as Kings Island you may need more than you think.
- Umbrella: rentable, but a light travel umbrella doubles as sun cover in summer.
Should you bring your own clubs or rent? The break-even
If your airline flies a golf bag free, bringing your own clubs is cheaper from the first round. If you pay for baggage, renting wins for one round and the two options cross at about two.
The example below uses Long Bien’s published 800,000 VND (~$30) rental as the benchmark and baggage figures from our airline-by-airline guide to golf bag fees. Vietnam Airlines, Bamboo, Korean Air and Asiana carry one golf set up to 23 kg free on most fares. On Vietjet, a 20 kg checked tier on Southeast Asian routes costs about 480,000 VND (~$18) each way when booked online.
| Rounds | Rent total (example) | Fly with clubs: free golf set | Fly with clubs: paid 20 kg tier, both ways | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | ~$30 | $0 | ~$36 | Rent, unless the bag flies free |
| 2 | ~$60 | $0 | ~$36 | Close; comfort decides |
| 3 | ~$90 | $0 | ~$36 | Bring your own |
| 4+ | ~$120 and up | $0 | ~$36 | Bring your own |
Money is only half of it. Your own clubs mean known distances, and that matters more on a hard course than on an easy one. Renting means no oversized bag through the airport or the hotel lobby. Hong Kong travellers should check their fare carefully: our airline guide notes a USD 200 oversize fee on Cathay Pacific for bags over 158 cm in total dimensions.
We normally recommend renting for a business trip with one or two rounds, and bringing your own for three rounds or more. GoGolfVietnam’s four-day short break, with Kings Island, Sky Lake and Long Bien in four days, sits right on that line: three rounds at three courses, or about 2,950,000 VND (~$112) of rental across those three clubs.
How do you reserve rental clubs in Hanoi?
Ask for the set when the tee time is booked, and give us right or left hand, shaft flex and shoe size at the same time. That way the request goes to the pro shop days ahead, not on the morning.
- Groups of four or more: send the details for every player in one message. Clubs hold only a few sets of each type.
- Weekends: local demand is highest on Saturday and Sunday, so book rental sets with the tee time, not afterwards.
- Price: GoGolfVietnam, a local golf tour operator based in Da Nang that also runs trips around Hanoi, confirms the club’s rental rate in writing with your booking, because rates change by season and run from 590,000 to 1,250,000 VND across the courses we book.
If your own clubs are delayed by the airline, a rental set is also the quickest fix. Tell us the morning you land and we will ask the club for a set before your first tee time.
Where do you leave your golf bag between rounds?
At your hotel in Hanoi, or in the vehicle on a day when you move between courses. Few visitors need a locker at the course itself.
Most golfers stay in the city and drive out each morning, so the bag goes back to the hotel every evening. On a day that moves on, such as the drive east to Ha Long via Chi Linh Star, it stays in the vehicle with the rest of the luggage. Long Bien also lists bag storage by the month on its price list, aimed at members rather than visitors. If you rent, there is nothing to carry back at all, which is one reason renting suits golfers who also want time in the city. Which courses each day takes you to, and how far, is set out in our map of the Hanoi courses these rental sets travel to.
