What Is the FLC Quy Nhon Mountain Course Like to Play?

The Mountain Course sits on the sandy hillside above the FLC resort, so most of the round is played looking down over the resort, the beach and the bay. Brian Curley of Schmidt-Curley Design gave it wide fairways but plenty of movement in the ground, and he has compared the feel to the Plantation Course at Kapalua in Hawaii. Sixteen of the 18 holes have a view of the sea.

The holes golfers talk about include the uphill par-4 6th, which asks for a carry of about 220 yards over a small dune, the par-5 11th played against a bare sand dune, and the par-3 14th, which drops steeply from the tee with the resort and the sea behind the green. The long dogleg par-4 17th sets up the finish. Platinum Paspalum covers every surface, which handles the salt air and keeps the fairways firm.

Ocean Course or Mountain Course?

If you only have time for one round, the Ocean Course is the better known of the two and plays along the beach. The Mountain Course gives wider landing areas, more elevation and bigger views from above, and on the Top100golfcourses.com list it currently ranks slightly ahead of the Ocean Course in Vietnam. Most golfers who stay two nights at Nhon Ly play both, one each day.

How Do You Get to the FLC Quy Nhon Mountain Course?

It shares the clubhouse with the Ocean Course at Nhon Ly, about 30 minutes (around 19 km) from Quy Nhon city centre and about 45 minutes from Phu Cat Airport (UIH). GoGolfVietnam, a local golf tour operator in Vietnam, books the tee time and transfer together and confirms which course is open on your dates before you travel.
