What Is the FLC Quy Nhon Ocean Course Like to Play?

The Ocean Course is two courses in one walk. The front nine climbs into pine forest and open sand dunes on higher ground, so the early holes are framed by trees and waste sand rather than water. After the turn the routing drops towards the shore, and from the 13th, which plays straight at the ocean, the holes run along the coastline to the clubhouse.

Nicklaus Design used the natural dunes as hazards instead of building them, which gives the course its rugged links look. The par-3 16th is played towards the sea to a green set in a saddle between dunes, and the par-5 17th, 569 yards, ends with a blind approach to a green in a natural amphitheatre. With 14 holes looking out to sea, the wind off the water is part of the challenge on most days.

Built in around five months and opened in January 2016, the Ocean Course was named Best New Golf Course in Asia-Pacific at that year’s Asian Golf Awards. It is ranked No. 55 in GOLF Magazine’s Top 100 Courses in Asia-Pacific (2023), and in August 2025 the club hosted the Vietnam National Golf Championship.
