Landed too late for a tee time, rained off, or in Hanoi on business with two free hours? You can still hit balls. Two lakeside ranges on Yen Phu street sit about 2–4 km from the Old Quarter, a Golfzon simulator suite at Lotte’s West Lake complex runs until midnight, and the golf courses keep their own ranges for warming up before a round.
Quick Answer
Hanoi has three kinds of practice: city ranges on West Lake, ranges at the golf courses, and indoor simulators. The closest to the Old Quarter are The Hanoi Club and the BRG Golf Center at Thang Loi Hotel, both on Yen Phu street. For rain or heat, Golfzon Park at L7 West Lake by Lotte opens 9:00–24:00 daily. Most city options run into the evening.
Hanoi driving ranges at a glance
Six places we could confirm as operating, grouped by type. Only venues with an official page, a hotel listing or recent press made the table; anything we could only find in online directories was left out.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Hanoi Club driving range | 76 Yen Phu, Tay Ho; approx. 2 km from the Old Quarter | City range hitting onto West Lake | Not published; call ahead | Yes, “day or night” | Hotel website |

Venues checked on 9 October 2026. Distances to the Old Quarter are approximate road distances; course drive times match our own transfer planning. None of these venues publishes whether it rents clubs at the range, so ask when you book or bring your own.
Where is the closest driving range to the Old Quarter?
Yen Phu street, on the east shore of West Lake. The Hanoi Club and the BRG Golf Center at Thang Loi Hotel are both there, roughly 2–4 km from Hoan Kiem, a short taxi ride rather than an expedition.
The Hanoi Club is the nearer of the two. Its range lets you, in the hotel’s words, “putt or drive into Hanoi’s West Lake, either day or night.” The club publishes no hours or prices, so we would phone (84-24) 3823 8115 before going.
The BRG Golf Center at Thang Loi is the one with a published price list. Walk-in visitors rent a bay by the hour rather than buying buckets, and the list, valid from 1 January 2025, reads:
| Thang Loi bay, walk-in visitor | Price |
|---|---|
| Weekday, 6:00–15:00 | 180,000 VND (~$7) per hour |
| Weekday, 15:00–22:00 | 250,000 VND (~$9) per hour |
| Weekends and public holidays | 250,000 VND (~$9) per hour |
| Short-game area | 180,000 VND (~$7) per 30 min weekdays; 240,000 VND (~$9) weekends |
The list states it applies until a new one replaces it. We confirm the current rate when we book a session for guests.
Further out, the Leadbetter Golf Academy at Ciputra has 18 hitting bays and Trackman launch monitors, according to the academy’s own page. It suits a lesson or a proper practice block more than a quick bucket, and from the Old Quarter it is closer to half an hour away than ten minutes.
Can you practise at the golf courses before a round?
Yes, and on a golf trip that is usually where you will do it. Arrive 30–40 minutes before your tee time and the course range is the natural warm-up.
Long Bien is the one worth a special mention because it is the course closest to the city, 20–30 minutes from the Old Quarter. Its covered range runs on two levels; Vietnam Golf Magazine reported 52 bays open day and night when it was reviewed in 2022. The course itself is floodlit, and twenty minutes on the range before an evening round is time well spent.

The resort courses west of the city, BRG Kings Island and Sky Lake, also have practice ranges, but they are 45–60 minutes and about an hour from the centre. Nobody drives that far to hit balls; you use them on the morning you play there. Course ranges are set up for golfers with a tee time, and none of these clubs publishes range-only prices for visitors.
If an evening round is what you are really after, several Hanoi courses play 18 holes under lights; we keep that list in our guide to which Hanoi courses switch the floodlights on.
Is there indoor golf in Hanoi for rainy or hot days?
Yes. The most visitor-friendly option is Golfzon Park at L7 West Lake Hanoi by Lotte: six private simulator rooms, open 9:00–24:00 every day, with food and drinks on hand.
The hotel lists the rooms on the third floor, in the service apartment area, using Golfzon’s TwoVision Plus simulator. Rooms can be joined for a group. Rates are per round on the simulator rather than per hour:
| Golfzon Park, L7 West Lake | 9 holes | 18 holes |
|---|---|---|
| Weekday 9:00–15:00, men | 300,000 VND (~$11) | 400,000 VND (~$15) |
| Weekday 9:00–15:00, women | 200,000 VND (~$8) | 300,000 VND (~$11) |
| Weekday 15:00–24:00, and weekends | 450,000 VND (~$17) | 600,000 VND (~$23) |
| Driving range mode, 9:00–17:00 | 300,000 VND (~$11) per hour | |
Rates as published on the hotel’s website when we checked in October 2026; the page carries no validity date, so we confirm them at booking. The hotel does not say whether the simulator menus are in English. Thang Loi’s five STI bays are the other indoor-style option, though the hotel does not name the system behind them.
For a visiting golfer, a simulator is the rain plan, not the main event. In July heat, though, an air-conditioned 18 holes at 20:00 is not the worst way to keep your swing ticking over between course days.
How do you book a bay, and what should you bring?
Phone or message ahead, especially for an evening or weekend slot. City ranges and simulator rooms in Hanoi fill with local players after work and at weekends, the same pattern that pushes up weekend green fees.
- Book: by phone for The Hanoi Club, by the hotel’s reservation desk for Golfzon Park (+84-24-3333-9000), or ask us to arrange it alongside your tee times.
- Clubs: no Hanoi range we checked publishes club hire. Golfzon Park offers free locker storage for customers with a prepaid card, which suggests most players bring their own. If you have not flown with clubs, check what a rental set costs at the Hanoi courses and ask the range before you go.
- Shoes and glove: trainers are fine on mats; bring your glove.
- Payment: have Vietnamese dong on you. Prices are listed in VND.
How does practice fit into a Hanoi golf trip?
Use it to fill the gaps that a tee time cannot: the evening you land, a rain delay, or a free hour between meetings. GoGolfVietnam, a local golf tour operator based in Da Nang that also runs trips around Hanoi, slots a range session into those gaps rather than building a day around one.
- Late arrival: check in, eat, and spend an hour at Yen Phu, 2–4 km from the Old Quarter, so the first tee shot next morning is not your first swing in a week.
- Rain: Golfzon Park opens at 9:00 and runs to midnight, so a washed-out morning can become a simulator afternoon.
- Business trips: two hours is enough for Thang Loi or The Hanoi Club, but not for a round at a resort course an hour away.
- Before an evening round: warm up on the Long Bien range, then play under the lights.
On a short trip we normally recommend saving the travel time for real golf. Our 3-day Hanoi package built around Kings Island and Long Bien leaves the arrival evening free, which is exactly when a range session fits. For longer stays, the northern itineraries with practice time pencilled in work the same way.
