Is KN Golf Links worth the trip? For most visiting golfers, yes. It is the course that makes Nha Trang worth flying to. Greg Norman routed it over the sand dunes of the Cam Ranh peninsula, and it plays more like a seaside links than anything else in Vietnam. Two things decide whether it suits you: whether you enjoy wind and firm ground, and where you stay. The course is about 15 minutes from Cam Ranh airport but close to an hour from Nha Trang’s beachfront.
Quick answer
KN Golf Links Cam Ranh is worth playing if you want true links golf in Vietnam. It is a Greg Norman design over coastal dunes, ranked No. 3 in Vietnam. Play the 18-hole Links course; keep the nine-hole Oasis for a short afternoon. It is about 15 minutes from Cam Ranh airport and about 55 from central Nha Trang, so play it on arrival or departure day, or stay in Cam Ranh.

What it is like to play: dunes, wind and sea views

KN sits on an 800-hectare development with five kilometres of coastline, according to Planet Golf, and the course is laid across sandy dunes and ridges about half a kilometre from the water. Where most Vietnamese courses use trees and ponds, KN uses sand. The bunkers blend into the native dunes, and wide sandy waste areas line many holes.
The ground is the other half of the story. The fairways are firm, so the ball keeps rolling, and a low shot that lands short and runs on is often better than a high one that hangs in the breeze. Norman has said he wanted golfers to “get around on their own skills” (Top 100 Golf Courses, 2018). The width is there, but the wind decides how much of it you can use.
The holes most golfers remember are the 10th and the 15th. Both are par 4s that play downhill toward the sea and the small islands offshore, and Top 100 Golf Courses names them as Norman’s favourites. We won’t single out other “signature” holes. The best of the course is how the dunes change from one hole to the next.
The Links or The Oasis?
KN has 27 holes, which makes it the only 27-hole venue in the Nha Trang area. The two courses suit different days:
- The Links (18 holes, par 72) is the reason to come. If you play KN only once, play this one.
- The Oasis (9 holes, par 36) is a shorter loop around the lakes. It works on arrival day when your flight lands at midday, as a warm-up before the Links, or for a partner who plays less often.
A common plan for golfers staying nearby is the Links in the morning and the Oasis late in the afternoon, 27 holes in one day without a long drive.
Is it hard? Who KN suits
KN is not a course built to punish. In calm conditions a mid-handicapper can score well. The difficulty comes from wind off the sea and from firm, sandy ground, which magnify every miss. On a breezy day, expect your score to rise.
| Golfer | How KN plays for you | Our tip |
|---|---|---|
| High handicap (25+) | The width helps, but wind and sand make long par 4s hard work | Play the forward tees, or start with The Oasis |
| Mid handicap (12–24) | The best fit: room off the tee, and the round is decided around the greens | Keep the ball low and use the ground to run it on |
| Low handicap (under 12) | The back tees at 7,165 yards and a sea breeze give a real test | Play the full Links from the back tees |
A caddie and a cart are compulsory and included in the green fee, so the walking is not a factor. Caddies also help with reading the wind on the exposed holes.
Getting there: closer to the airport than to the city
This is where many visitors get the plan wrong. KN Golf Links is not 20 minutes from Nha Trang. On Google Maps in October 2026:
- Cam Ranh International Airport to KN: about 15 minutes.
- Central Nha Trang to KN: about 55 minutes, roughly 42 km.
- A resort on Bai Dai (Long Beach) to KN: about 20 minutes.
From a city hotel, a round at KN means close to two hours in the car, there and back. So we usually put KN on the day you land or the day you fly out. Golf bags go straight from the airport to the clubhouse, and nobody spends a morning on the coast road. Our four-day Nha Trang package that pairs KN with Diamond Bay is built that way.
Stay in Cam Ranh or in the city?
If KN is the main reason for the trip, stay in Cam Ranh. A resort on Bai Dai (Long Beach) puts you about 20 minutes from the course, so you can play twice without a long transfer and still have afternoons on the beach.
If you also want Vinpearl or Diamond Bay, plus the restaurants of the city, stay in central Nha Trang and play KN on the way in or out. For a longer trip, some golfers split it: two nights in Cam Ranh, then the rest in the city.
Best time and tee times
Nha Trang is drier than most of Vietnam for much of the year. The heavier rain usually falls from around October to December, when a few rounds can be lost to storms. The rest of the year suits KN well.
On tee times, we prefer mornings at KN: the air is cooler and the light over the dunes is better. Wind can get up at any time on an exposed links, and that is part of the appeal, but a cooler morning start leaves more energy for the shots the breeze asks for.
KN vs the other Nha Trang courses
Vinpearl Golf Nha Trang sits on Hon Tre island across the bay, with views from the hills, and is the most convenient choice from a city hotel. Diamond Bay is on the coast road south of the city and pairs well with KN on a transfer day. KN is the one that feels like nowhere else in the country. For all four courses side by side, see our guide to golf in Nha Trang. Norman also designed a course on the dunes in Da Nang; our Legend Da Nang review compares it with the Nicklaus course next door.
Our verdict
KN Golf Links Cam Ranh is the best reason to choose Nha Trang for a golf trip. Play the Links course at least once, and plan the trip around the airport rather than the city: a round on arrival or departure day, or two nights in Cam Ranh. If you dislike wind and firm, running ground, it can be a frustrating day, and an island or resort course near your hotel may suit you better.
