Nha Trang suits a golf trip with someone who does not play better than most places in Vietnam. While one of you plays, the other has beaches, islands and a theme park within reach. The plan for the day depends on one thing: which course is on the schedule. One course is on an island, one is a short drive south of the city, and one is close to an hour away by road.
Quick answer
If your partner plays Vinpearl Golf, go over to Hon Tre island together and spend the day at VinWonders, the theme park on the same island. If the round is at KN Golf Links or Diamond Bay, the non-golfer has a free day in Nha Trang: a boat trip, the mud baths, the Po Nagar Cham Towers or just the beach. Meet for lunch or dinner in the city.
How a Nha Trang golf day works
The courses are spread out, so how much free time the non-golfer gets depends on where the round is:
- Island day (Vinpearl Golf): the course is on Hon Tre, across the bay. You both cross from the mainland, so the day can be shared.
- Short day (Diamond Bay): about 20–25 minutes south of the city centre. The golfer is back by lunchtime, so plan a morning out.
- Long day (KN Golf Links): on the Cam Ranh peninsula, about 55 minutes each way from the city. The non-golfer has the whole day free.
Our guide to golf in Nha Trang covers the courses themselves. This guide is about the other half of the trip.
Golf-day plans by course
| Course your partner plays | Non-golfer plan | Meet up after | Getting there (Google Maps, Oct 2026) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vinpearl Golf (Hon Tre island) | Go across together; VinWonders, the aquarium and the water park | Lunch or late afternoon on the island | City to Cau Da pier about 12 min, then about 10 min by boat |
| Diamond Bay (south of the city) | A morning in the city: Po Nagar, Long Son Pagoda or the beach | Lunch in the city | About 20–25 min from the city centre |
| KN Golf Links (Cam Ranh) | A full free day: boat trip or mud bath plus the beach | Dinner in the city | About 55 min each way from the city |
Drive times were checked on Google Maps in October 2026 and change with traffic, so allow some extra time on the way back for dinner.
Hon Tre island: VinWonders while the Vinpearl round is on
This is Nha Trang’s best answer for a couple with one golfer. Vinpearl Golf Nha Trang and VinWonders are both on Hon Tre, so you can travel over together. The golfer goes to the first tee and the non-golfer heads to the park.
- Opening hours: 09:00 to 20:00, according to VinWonders (checked 10 October 2026).
- What is there: a water park (Tropical Paradise), the Sea World aquarium with more than 15,000 marine animals, and the Fairy Land, Festive Hill and World Garden zones.
- Getting across: by speedboat, about 7–10 minutes, or by cable car. VinWonders has announced that the cable car will be closed for maintenance from 26 October to 10 November 2026; speedboats run in the meantime.
- Tickets: prices change with promotions, so check the current price on the VinWonders site before you go.
A golfer’s round takes about half a day, so the easiest plan is to meet for a late lunch on the island and return together.
Island hopping and snorkelling

Boat trips around the islands of Nha Trang Bay fill a day when your partner is at KN. One thing to know: swimming and diving inside the strictly protected zone at Hon Mun have been suspended until further notice, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (May 2026). Operators take guests to the sites where swimming is allowed, so check which spots a tour visits before you book.
The sea is calmest in the first half of the year. From about October to December, rain and rough seas can cancel boat trips at short notice. Our month-by-month guide to Nha Trang weather explains the seasons.
Mud baths and hot springs

A mud bath is a Nha Trang classic and an easy half day, especially on a hot afternoon.
- I-Resort Nha Trang: open daily from 8:00 to 17:30, with the last tickets sold at 16:30 (official site, checked October 2026). It has hot mineral mud baths, hot spring pools, herbal baths, a spa and restaurants.
- Thap Ba Hot Spring Center: the older of the two, about 6 km from the city, with shared and private mud baths. Opening hours vary between sources, so check on the day.
Go after lunch, when the golfer playing Diamond Bay is back, and you can both go together.
Culture: Po Nagar, Long Son Pagoda and the Dam Market

- Po Nagar Cham Towers: a Cham temple complex built between about the 8th and 13th centuries. It was classified as a Special National Monument in January 2025. Cover your shoulders and knees, and go early before the heat.
- Long Son Pagoda: known for its 24-metre white Buddha on the hill behind the pagoda, reached by 193 stone steps.
- Dam Market: the city’s old central market, for snacks, dried seafood and souvenirs. Plans to redevelop the market have been reported, so check that it is open before you go.
All three are in or close to the city, which makes them a good fit for a morning while the golfer is at Diamond Bay.
Staying in Cam Ranh or the city with a non-golfer
For most couples, the city works better. The beach, restaurants, the night market and the pier for Hon Tre are all close by, and the non-golfer can walk to most things. Golf days at KN mean a longer drive for the golfer, but the rest of the trip is easier.
Cam Ranh suits a different trip: most rounds at KN, and a non-golfer who is happy with a resort and a quiet beach. A resort on Bai Dai is about 20 minutes from KN, but an hour from the city’s sights.
With children or older parents
Children are the easy case: a day at VinWonders, with the water park and the aquarium, and beach time on calm mornings. Keep island days for the drier months and have the aquarium as an indoor back-up.
Older parents usually prefer shorter outings: Long Son Pagoda early in the morning, an afternoon at the mud baths, and dinner by the sea. Plan around the midday heat, and avoid long boat days if anyone is not comfortable at sea.
Nha Trang vs Hanoi for a non-golfing partner
| Nha Trang | Hanoi | |
|---|---|---|
| Non-golfer day | Beach, island theme park, boat trips, mud baths | Old Quarter, museums, food tours |
| Best for | Families and beach lovers | Culture and city sightseeing |
| Distance from the courses | Island course about 25 min away, boat included; KN about an hour | Long Bien 20–30 min; most others 40–60 min |
If the non-golfer prefers museums and food to beaches, Hanoi may suit them better, and we have a separate day plan for non-golfers there.
Our five-day Nha Trang golf and beach holiday has a free beach day between rounds, which gives the non-golfer a full day to plan. You can also browse all our Nha Trang golf packages for golfers travelling with a partner.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What can non-golfers do in Nha Trang?›
Spend the day on Hon Tre island at VinWonders, take a boat trip around the bay, soak in a mud bath at I-Resort or Thap Ba, visit the Po Nagar Cham Towers and Long Son Pagoda, or simply stay on the beach. Which one fits best depends on which course your partner is playing.
2. Can non-golfers go to Hon Tre island with the golfers?›
Yes. Vinpearl Golf Nha Trang is on Hon Tre, the same island as VinWonders, so a golfer and a non-golfer can travel over together. VinWonders opens from 09:00 to 20:00. The crossing takes about 7–10 minutes by speedboat, or you can take the cable car when it is running.
3. Is Nha Trang good for a family golf trip?›
Yes. Children have VinWonders, with its water park and aquarium, plus calm beach days in the dry months. Older parents can take gentle half days at the mud baths or the city sights, while the golfers play.
4. Where should a golfer and non-golfer stay in Nha Trang?›
In most cases, in the city. The beach, restaurants, the night market and the pier for Hon Tre are all close by. Stay in Cam Ranh only if most of the rounds are at KN Golf Links and the non-golfer is happy with a resort day.
5. What to do in Nha Trang on a rainy day?›
Head indoors. The Sea World aquarium at VinWonders, the mud baths, a spa or the Dam Market all work in the rain. Boat trips are often cancelled when the sea is rough, mainly from about October to December.
6. Are Nha Trang mud baths worth it?›
For a relaxed half day, yes. I-Resort opens from 8:00 to 17:30, with mineral mud, hot spring pools and a spa. It is an easy afternoon while your partner plays a round close to the city.
7. How far is KN Golf Links from Nha Trang city?›
About 55 minutes by road, roughly 42 km (Google Maps, October 2026). A golfer playing KN is away for most of the day, which leaves the non-golfer a full day in the city.
