The easiest way to combine Nha Trang and Quy Nhon with golf clubs is a private car on the new North–South expressway: 219 km and about 3 hours 42 minutes door to door. Allow 5–7 days, travel between February and August, and remember that Quy Nhon has one golf resort with two courses.

Quick Answer

  • Best transfer with clubs: private car, 3 h 42 min (219 km) on the expressway.
  • Train: 4–5 hours Nha Trang to Dieu Tri, then 13 km into Quy Nhon; awkward with full golf bags.
  • Flights: no direct Nha Trang–Quy Nhon flight; it means changing in Ho Chi Minh City.
  • Best months for both: February to August; avoid October–November in Quy Nhon.
  • Trip length: 5 days for 4 rounds, 7 days for 5–6 rounds and a beach day.

Why pair Nha Trang with Quy Nhon?

Because the two coasts give you different golf in one week. Nha Trang has four courses within reach, an international airport and a busy beach city; Quy Nhon, 219 km north, has two quiet seaside courses at a single resort and a coastline that still feels empty.

Played on their own, each has a gap: Nha Trang lacks a true links, and Quy Nhon runs out of courses after two days. Together they make a varied 5–7 day trip. For the Quy Nhon side, read our guide to the two FLC courses at Quy Nhon, which confirms the club is open in 2026.

How do you get from Nha Trang to Quy Nhon with golf clubs?

Take a private car. It is the only option that carries golf bags from hotel door to hotel door, and since the expressway opened along this stretch it is also the fastest. Google Maps put the drive at 3 hours 42 minutes for 219 km on 22 October 2026.

Option Door to door Golf bags Best for Notes
Private car (7 or 16 seats) About 3 h 45 min Easy, loaded at the hotel Any group with clubs Via the North–South expressway; stops in Phu Yen add time
SE train 4–5 h on the train, plus 13 km from Dieu Tri station Possible but awkward; no published golf-bag rule Solo travellers with light luggage Dieu Tri is the station for Quy Nhon, not Quy Nhon station
Flights via Ho Chi Minh City Most of a day Checked; free allowance varies by airline Only if you are already flying No direct Cam Ranh–Phu Cat flight

Drive time: Google Maps, 22 October 2026, evening traffic. Train time and station distance: published timetable guides, October 2026. Phu Cat (UIH) only has scheduled flights to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

In our experience, golfers who try the train once switch to a car the next time: getting two or three full golf bags on and off a carriage at Dieu Tri is the hard part, not the journey. GoGolfVietnam, a local golf tour operator based in Da Nang, arranges 7-seat cars for two golfers and 16-seat vans for groups of four with bags, so the clubs stay in the vehicle for the whole drive.

Is the expressway finished between Nha Trang and Quy Nhon?

Mostly, and the fast route is now the default. The Van Phong–Nha Trang and Chi Thanh–Van Phong sections of the North–South expressway were the last links on this coast; Tuoi Tre reported in March 2026 that the final 12 km of Chi Thanh–Van Phong was due to open in mid-2026. Google Maps now routes the trip on the expressway, which is why the drive has dropped below four hours.

Where should you stop on the coast road in Phu Yen?

If you have an extra hour, leave the expressway in Phu Yen province, which sits between the two cities. Three stops are worth it:

  • Ganh Da Dia: a headland of hexagonal basalt columns on the coast north of Tuy Hoa.
  • Mui Dien (Dai Lanh Cape): the easternmost point of mainland Vietnam, with a lighthouse walk.
  • Vung Ro Bay: a sheltered bay just off the road south of Tuy Hoa.

We normally recommend one stop, not three, on a golf trip: lunch near Tuy Hoa plus Ganh Da Dia still gets you to Quy Nhon for an early dinner.

How does the golf compare on the two coasts?

Nha Trang gives you variety; Quy Nhon gives you two strong seaside rounds in one place. The table below is how we explain the difference to guests choosing how many days to give each coast.

Nha Trang area Quy Nhon
Courses 4: KN Golf Links Cam Ranh, Vinpearl Golf Nha Trang, Diamond Bay, ANARA Binh Tien 2 at one resort: FLC Ocean and FLC Mountain
Style Links at Cam Ranh, an island course reached by boat, a resort course just south of the city Seaside links among dunes, plus a hillier course with sea views on 16 holes
Getting to the first tee KN is 19 min from Cam Ranh airport; Vinpearl needs a short boat crossing 38 min from Phu Cat airport; about 5 min from the resort hotel
Rounds that make sense 3–4 in 3–4 days 2–3 in 2–3 days
Feel Busy beach city, more restaurants Quiet coast, fewer visitors

Caddies and shared buggies are compulsory and included in the green fee at FLC Quy Nhon, so there is nothing extra to arrange there. In Nha Trang, the island course is the one that changes your timing: allow time for the boat on the day you play Vinpearl Golf, and keep that day away from your transfer north.

Which direction should you go: Nha Trang to Quy Nhon or the reverse?

Follow your flights. Fly into Cam Ranh (CXR) and out of Phu Cat (UIH) and you go north; reverse it if your best fares land in Phu Cat. Cam Ranh has international flights, while Phu Cat is domestic only, so most international golfers start in Nha Trang.

Starting in Nha Trang also helps with the golf: KN Golf Links is 19 minutes from Cam Ranh airport, so you can play on arrival day, and the two Quy Nhon courses are a strong finish before a domestic flight home via Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City.

KN Golf Links Cam Ranh, 19 minutes from the airport, is the natural first round.

When are both coasts good for golf?

February to August. Nha Trang is dry from January to August, and Quy Nhon from roughly March to August. From September the two drift apart: Quy Nhon’s rains build into October and November, its wettest and stormiest months.

Months Nha Trang Quy Nhon Combined trip
Jan Dry, start of season Showers still possible Possible, keep Quy Nhon flexible
Feb–Apr Dry, sunny Dry, sunny Best period
May–Aug Dry, hot Dry, hottest Good with early tee times
Sep Showers begin Transition Possible
Oct–Dec Rainy season Wettest, storm risk in Oct–Nov Avoid

Check Nha Trang’s dry and wet months in detail before you fix dates; in May to August, book the first tee times at both ends.

What does a 5-day and a 7-day Nha Trang–Quy Nhon golf plan look like?

Five days covers four rounds; seven days adds a fifth or sixth round and a free beach day.

Day 5-day plan 7-day plan
1 Land at Cam Ranh, afternoon round at KN Golf Links Land at Cam Ranh, KN Golf Links
2 Vinpearl Golf Nha Trang on Hon Tre island Vinpearl Golf Nha Trang
3 Morning drive north (about 3 h 45 min), afternoon at leisure in Quy Nhon Diamond Bay
4 FLC Quy Nhon Ocean Course Drive north with a stop at Ganh Da Dia
5 FLC Quy Nhon Mountain Course, fly out from Phu Cat FLC Quy Nhon Ocean Course
6 — Beach day: Ky Co and Eo Gio, 14 minutes from the course
7 — FLC Quy Nhon Mountain Course, fly out from Phu Cat

If you only have four days, stay in Nha Trang: a four-day Nha Trang package with KN and Diamond Bay makes more sense than spending a day on the road for one round.

Where should you stay on each coast?

In Nha Trang, choose between the city, Cam Ranh near KN and the airport, and Hon Tre island near Vinpearl Golf; how Nha Trang’s courses compare explains which base suits which course. In Quy Nhon, stay at the resort about five minutes from the first tee for a golf-only stop, or on the southern coast at Ghenh Rang, 40–45 minutes away, if non-golfers are with you.

Is Quy Nhon worth the detour from Nha Trang?

Yes, if you like quiet seaside golf and have at least five days. The Ocean Course is a Nicklaus Design links among natural dunes, the Mountain Course adds elevation and sea views on 16 holes, and in October 2026 the club is busy enough to host the FLC 25th Anniversary tournament.

No, if you want a new course every day or only have four days. Our guests usually find the drive itself pleasant, but it still costs half a day. GoGolfVietnam builds Nha Trang golf trips we can extend north to Quy Nhon as one itinerary, with the car, tee times and hotels booked before you arrive.
