Heron Lake Golf Course & Resort: Night Golf on the Shores of Dam Vac Lake
Heron Lake Golf Course & Resort sits on the edge of Dam Vac Lake in Vinh Yen, Vinh Phuc Province, about 45 minutes from central Hanoi and close to Noi Bai Airport. It opened in 2010, designed by Phil Ryal of Pacific Coast Design, and takes its name from the herons that nest around the surrounding wetlands.
The 18-hole, par-72 layout plays across roughly 6,800 yards and leans heavily on water: fairways run along inlets of the lake, and greens are guarded by bunkers shaped into the shoreline rather than set back from it. Paspalum grass covers both fairway and rough, which keeps lies fairly consistent even when a ball drifts off the short grass. Golfers who tee off in the early morning or late afternoon tend to see herons working the shallows, a detail the course leans into rather than just its name on a sign.
What sets Heron Lake apart from the other nine courses in this Hanoi cluster is not the routing but the clock: since April 2026 the course has run a floodlit night session, with lights covering the fairways and greens so a round can start after 9:30pm on weekdays. None of the other Hanoi-area courses in this list currently offer that, which makes it a practical option for golfers stuck at a desk until evening rather than only a weekend booking.
On-site facilities include a driving range, a chipping and pitching area, a putting green, a pro shop and a clubhouse restaurant. Caddies are required for every round, and buggies, clubs and shoes can all be rented on site.
