Stone Valley Golf Resort: Dramatic Terrain in the Tam Chuc Valley
Stone Valley Golf Resort sits in Kim Bang District, Ha Nam Province, about 65km and roughly 1 hour 20 minutes south of Hanoi, close to the limestone hills of Tam Chuc. Opened in 2018 as Truong An Golf Company’s first course, it was designed by Brian Curley of Schmidt-Curley Design, the team behind the Mission Hills courses in China.
The layout is built across three 9-hole nines, and most rounds play 18 holes selected from that 27-hole complex at a par of 72 and up to 7,280 yards from the back tees. What stands out here is the terrain work: Curley shaped the fairways with ridges, kick-slopes and backstops rather than leaving the ground flat, so a shot that lands short can still kick forward onto the green. The front nine winds past slow-moving streams and small lakes, while holes 6 through 8 play across natural rock outcrops that reward a precise line and punish a greedy one. The back nine climbs higher, and four of its holes sit at elevation with views across the valley and surrounding mountains rather than the flatter resort scenery found at Sky Lake or Phoenix.
It is a different kind of round from the pine-lined estate golf at Van Tri or the twin-green design at BRG Legend Hill — Stone Valley is about reading the ground, not just the yardage, and the drive down is long enough that most golfers pair it with a stop at the Tam Chuc pagoda complex on the way back to Hanoi.
On-site facilities include a driving range, a short-game area, a putting green and a pro shop, with caddie service, buggy, club and shoe rental, coaching, a restaurant, a sauna and a spa. A caddie is mandatory for every round.
