Vinpearl Golf Nha Trang Review (2026): Playing the Island Course on Hon Tre — Boat, Course and Is It Worth It?

Last updated: 11 October 2026

Vinpearl Golf Nha Trang is Nha Trang’s only island course, and that single fact shapes the whole day. It sits on Hon Tre, the large island facing the city, so a round starts with a short drive to Vinpearl’s pier at Cau Da and a speedboat or cable car across the bay. This review covers how the crossing works, how the course plays, who it suits and whether to sleep on the island or in town.

Quick Answer

In short, this Vinpearl Golf Nha Trang review comes down to one word: views. The par-71 IMG course runs over the hills of Hon Tre with Nha Trang Bay below. From the city it is about 12 minutes to Vinpearl’s own pier at Cau Da, then 7–10 minutes by speedboat, or take the cable car. It suits golfers who want scenery over a hard test.

Getting there: the speedboat crossing, step by step

Vinpearl speedboat crossing Nha Trang Bay to Hon Tre island, the way to Vinpearl Golf Nha Trang
Vinpearl’s speedboat crosses to Hon Tre in about 7–10 minutes.

The boat is the part first-time visitors ask about most. In practice it is short and simple:

  1. Car to the pier. From a hotel on Tran Phu, the drive south to Vinpearl’s own pier and cable car station at Cau Da takes about 12 minutes outside rush hour (Google Maps, October 2026). It is not the public Cau Da port used by island-hopping tour boats.
  2. Speedboat or cable car across the bay. Vinpearl’s speedboat reaches Hon Tre in about 7–10 minutes; the sea-crossing cable car takes about 10 minutes when it is running. We choose the crossing and confirm the departure time when the tee time is booked.
  3. On to the first tee. We arrange the onward transfer on the island with the round, so the clubs and the golfer arrive at the clubhouse together.

Allow around 45 minutes door to door from a city hotel, including the wait at the pier. Vinpearl lists tee times from 06:00, so an early round means an early pier.

What about the clubs? Vinpearl does not publish a golf-bag procedure for the boat. When we book the round, the bags travel with you on the transfer, and the caddie takes over at the clubhouse. If you would rather travel light, the club offers rental clubs and shoes.

The one real variable is the sea. The bay is calm through most of the dry season, but from around September to December rougher water can limit boat trips. Our month-by-month look at Nha Trang weather for golfers explains when that matters; on a rough day the cable car is the fallback, and if both crossings are disrupted we move the round to the mainland.

How the course plays

IMG laid the course across the hillsides of Hon Tre, with wide fairways that rise and fall with the slopes and views over Nha Trang Bay from many of the tees. Vinpearl describes the design as keeping the natural landscape, and that is what you notice: the hills behind, the water below and very little of the city.

The official scorecard tells you more about the test than any brochure. At 6,787 yards from the back and par 71, it is not long by modern standards. It has five par 3s, so short-iron accuracy matters, and the 5th and 6th are back-to-back par 5s, the best chance to pick up shots early in the round. The stroke index marks the par-4 4th as the hardest hole on the card and the par-4 15th as the second hardest, so a good score is built by surviving those two.

Seashore paspalum covers tees, fairways and greens. It copes well with heat and salt air and gives a firm, tight lie, which rewards clean contact. The hilly routing means uneven stances, so club selection on approach shots is where most rounds are won or lost.

Vinpearl also lists a lighting system across all 18 holes and a 10-bay driving range. Confirm whether evening play is available on your date when you book, as the published tee times run in the morning and early afternoon.

How a Vinpearl golf day usually runs

Because of the boat, a Vinpearl round is best planned as a half day rather than squeezed between other plans. A typical morning from a city hotel looks like this:

Time What happens
About 06:30 Car from the hotel to Vinpearl’s pier at Cau Da
About 06:45–07:00 Speedboat (or cable car) across the bay to Hon Tre
About 07:30 Tee off, after a few balls on the range if time allows
Late morning Finish the round; lunch at the clubhouse restaurant, which seats about 100
Early afternoon Boat back to the city, or join the family on the island

The exact times depend on the boat schedule and your tee time, both confirmed when we book. The point is the shape of the day: start early, finish before the strongest sun, and keep the afternoon free. On a five-day trip, that makes Vinpearl a natural fit for the day after a long drive to Cam Ranh.

Who Vinpearl Golf suits

Golfer Why it works Watch out for
Golfers who want views Sea and hill scenery from the tees on most of the round The boat adds time to the morning
Mid and high handicappers Wide fairways and a modest length Sloping lies on approach shots
Low handicappers Firm paspalum and a demanding 4th and 15th Less of a test than KN in the wind
Golfer plus non-golfing family The VinWonders theme park is on the same island Plan the day around the boat schedule

That last row is a big reason families choose Vinpearl. The golfer plays in the morning while the family crosses on the same boat for the theme park and beaches, and everyone meets for lunch on the island. For ideas beyond the park, our guide to Nha Trang for non-golfers covers the rest of the city.

Stay on the island or in the city?

Beachside lagoon pool at a villa resort on Hon Tre island, an island base for golfers playing Vinpearl Golf Nha Trang
Staying on Hon Tre takes the boat out of the golf morning.

Hon Tre has its own villa resorts, and staying there removes the boat from the golf morning: you are a short island transfer from the first tee. The trade-off is the reverse trip for everything else. Every dinner in town, every other course and the airport run start with the boat.

Base Best for Trade-off
Hon Tre island Golfers playing Vinpearl two or more times; families spending days at the theme park Boat for every trip off the island, including other courses
Nha Trang city (Tran Phu) Mixed trips with Diamond Bay or KN; restaurants and nightlife Pier and boat each time you play Vinpearl

For a trip with one round at Vinpearl and others on the mainland, the city is the simpler base: the pier is about 12 minutes away, and the coast road to the other courses starts from your door.

Vinpearl vs KN Golf Links vs Diamond Bay

Most golfers play two or three of Nha Trang’s courses, so the useful question is how Vinpearl fits alongside the others.

Course Location Getting there Style Best for
Vinpearl Golf Hon Tre island 12 min to the pier + 7–10 min boat Hillside course with bay views Scenery, families, a city-based trip
KN Golf Links Bai Dai, Cam Ranh About 55 min from the city; 15 min from the airport Greg Norman dune links The strongest test; arrival or departure day
Diamond Bay Coast road south of the city About 20–25 min from the city Resort course with mountain backdrop An easy mainland round; rainy-season backup

If you are choosing between Vinpearl and the links at Cam Ranh, our KN Golf Links review on wind, dunes and the drive from the airport sets out the other side. For all four courses with drive times and where to stay, see our Nha Trang golf overview with drive times for every course.

Best time and tee times

The dry months, roughly January to August, are the best time for Vinpearl, with calmer seas making the crossing smooth; February to April is the most comfortable stretch. From September to December, plan Vinpearl early in the trip so there is a spare day if the boat is disrupted. Take a morning tee time in the hot months: the hills offer little shade and the afternoon sun is strong.

Our verdict

Vinpearl Golf Nha Trang is the most enjoyable round in Nha Trang rather than the hardest. Play it for the setting: an island course with the bay below, a short boat ride from the city and a theme park next door for the family. Serious golfers should pair it with KN Golf Links for the challenge. Our five-day Nha Trang golf holiday that crosses to Vinpearl on day four does exactly that, with a free beach day in between.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is Vinpearl Golf Nha Trang worth playing?›

Yes, for the setting. It is an IMG-designed par-71 course over the hills of Hon Tre island with views of Nha Trang Bay. It is less demanding than KN Golf Links, so pair the two if you want both scenery and challenge.

2. How do you get to Vinpearl Golf Nha Trang?›

Drive about 12 minutes from central Nha Trang to Vinpearl’s own pier at Cau Da, cross to Hon Tre by speedboat (7–10 minutes) or cable car (about 10 minutes), then take the short buggy ride to the clubhouse (Google Maps, October 2026).

3. How long is the boat to Vinpearl Golf?›

About 7–10 minutes by speedboat from Vinpearl’s pier at Cau Da. Allow around 45 minutes door to door from a city hotel.

4. Can I bring my own golf clubs on the boat?›

Yes. When we book the round, your bags travel with you on the transfer to the island. Vinpearl also offers rental clubs and shoes.

5. Should I stay on Hon Tre island to play Vinpearl Golf?›

Stay on the island if you play Vinpearl more than once or the family plans theme-park days. For a mixed trip with mainland courses, the city is easier.

6. Is Vinpearl Golf better than KN Golf Links?›

They suit different golfers. KN is the stronger test on Cam Ranh’s dunes; Vinpearl is the scenic, easier-going island round and the more convenient choice from a city hotel.
