Vinpearl Golf Phu Quoc is the easy round on the island, and we mean that as praise. It sits in forest behind Bai Dai, a few minutes from the Vinpearl resorts, the theme park and the safari, so a morning of golf costs you almost nothing in travel. It is not the hardest course in Phu Quoc. It is the one that fits most neatly into a holiday, and this Vinpearl Golf Phu Quoc review explains who will enjoy it and who should save their energy for the other course.
Quick Answer
This Vinpearl Golf Phu Quoc review in short: worth playing if you are staying in the north. The IMG Worldwide course opened in 2015 and plays 18 holes, par 72, 7,038 yards on its official scorecard, through old forest at Bai Dai. The Vinpearl resorts are about 5 minutes away, and the airport roughly 40–50 minutes.

18 holes or 27? Clearing up the confusion
Search for this course and you will see two answers. When the club opened in May 2015, Vietnamese business press described a 27-hole development of more than 100 hectares, and some booking sites still list three nines. The club’s own website today shows a single 18-hole scorecard, par 72 and 7,038 yards, and that is the layout visitors are booked on.
So the practical answer is 18 holes. If you are staying several days and want to know whether an extra nine is open for a second round, ask us when you book and we will check with the club for your dates.
How the course plays

The setting is the course’s best feature. IMG routed the holes through old hardwood forest, with streams and small reservoirs in play, and Vinpearl describes rolling fairways under a tall canopy. The ground is gentler than at the island’s other course; Golfasian describes it as flattish, so it rarely punishes a tired swing with a steep lie.
The official scorecard shows where the work is. The stroke index rates the par-4 6th as the hardest hole on the course and the par-4 12th as the second hardest, while the 18th, another par 4, is index 4, so the round finishes with a proper test rather than a gift. Four par 5s (the 2nd, 7th, 11th and 17th) are the scoring chances.
The hole people remember is the 3rd, a short par 3 that is the easiest hole on the card (index 17). Golfasian describes it as about 145 yards from the blue tees to an almost island green surrounded by wetland. It looks fierce from the tee and plays kindly if you commit to the club.
Seashore paspalum covers the whole course and copes well with heat and salt air. Golfasian calls the greens average speed, which suits the course’s character: this is a layout for enjoying the round, not for grinding over four-footers.
Stay and play: the course next to your hotel

What sets Vinpearl Golf apart is distance, or the lack of it. The Vinpearl resorts at Bai Dai are about 2.7 km away, roughly 5 minutes by car according to the hotel’s own listing. That changes how a golf day feels: you can tee off early, be back at the pool before lunch and still have the afternoon for the family.
It also makes two rounds in a short stay easy. Our Vinpearl stay-and-play with two rounds and a short drive to the first tee is built on exactly that: arrive, play the next morning, and play again or relax before the flight.
Who it suits, and the honest trade-offs
| Golfer | Why it works | Keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Families on a beach holiday | The course, theme park and safari are all in the same corner of the island | Book an early tee time to finish before the heat |
| Mid and high handicappers | Generous forest fairways and gentle ground | Wetland and streams still catch a loose shot |
| Low handicappers | A strong finish, with the 18th rated index 4 | A relaxed resort layout rather than a stern test |
| Golfers who like an early start | First tee times from 06:00 | No evening play; last tee time is 15:00 |
Two practical points. Golfasian notes there are no refreshment kiosks out on the course, so buy water and drinks at the clubhouse before each nine. And since tee times stop at 15:00, a late-afternoon or evening round is not an option here.
Vinpearl Golf or Eschuri?

They answer different questions. Vinpearl Golf is the convenient, shaded round for a resort holiday; Eschuri is the longer, newer course that runs out to the beach and is lit for evening play. If you only have time for one and you are staying at Bai Dai, Vinpearl Golf is the sensible choice; if the golf is the point of the trip, play both. Our independent review of Eschuri, the forest-to-beach course covers the other side. How both courses fit into one trip is covered in our Phu Quoc golf guide.
Golf plus family: VinWonders and the Safari next door
This corner of the island is built for families. VinWonders, the theme and water park, is under a kilometre from the Bai Dai resorts, and Vinpearl Safari is a short drive away, so the rest of the family can be busy for the length of a round. Ideas for the other days are in our guide to Phu Quoc for non-golfers.
Best time and tee times
December to March is the most settled weather for golf in Phu Quoc, and the forest shade helps on hotter days. Take the earliest tee times you can from March onwards; our month-by-month look at golf weather on the island has the detail, including Tet and the busiest weeks.
Our verdict
Vinpearl Golf Phu Quoc is the island’s holiday course: a shaded forest layout, a memorable little par 3 at the 3rd and a finish that asks for a good score, all five minutes from the beach. Golfers looking for a hard test will want Eschuri as well. For everyone else, and especially for families, it is the most relaxed way to fit a round into a Phu Quoc trip.
